Leigh Brown Gone

Featured Replies

Reported on twitter he wont be offered a contract under Roos.

It won't be surprising if all the assistant coaches go.

Its clear Roos will choose his own team.

I heard everyone has gone except Jade Rawlings.

I hope the same goes for Brian Royal.

Royal will be fine. He's the bloke you can't shoot, root, or electrocute.

I hope Roosy signs up a former big forward, would love Jonothan Brown as a forward coach, great influence for guys like Hogan, Clark and Dawes

I thought Brown did an ok job, considering the lack of forward inside 50 entries, the conversion rate for scores was ok, having said this the cub is seeking more experienced assistants

Like Leigh Brown?

Under Neeld or if we continued our woeful inside 50's a forward line coach would be made redundant. Leigh Brown seemed to be doing ok. But with Clark Dawes, both wouldnt need much coaching, both experienced forwards. I wonder who Roos has in mind as a replacement.

I hope Rawlings stays, he played a major role in snagging Clark and from all reports well liked. All others I consider under review, Roos will decide, I'm not against that.

Thanks Brownie for your services, good luck on your next adventure.

Please for the love of god someone get us a good midfield coach.

PLEASE!!!!

I suppose assistants doesn't include Todd Viney but I hope to God he hangs around.

Who will be the in's? Tudor? Ling? Kennelly?

Just please tell us Brain Royal is going.

Do we have to pay out this contract as well?

I thought he had a three year deal but not certain of that.

Any ideas out there?

Just please tell us Brain Royal is going.

Oh be nice. Just give him another 5 years or so and he'll start to get the hang of it.

You said Brain Royal....see what you did there?? ;)

What happened to the whisper of Michael O'Loughlan? Could he be our possible forward coach?

Impossible to know if he was a good coach or not.

Thanks for . . . being you, Leigh. Thanks for being you.

How funny would it be if everyone goes except Brian Royal.

You mean like "HA HA kill me now" funny right?

Fair call, but as Rhino has already alluded to, with a new coach comes "his team".

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
