6 - Toumpas ( still making errors , but giving great cause for optimism )

5 - Garland ( possibly because he seemed to make fewer errors than the other backmen)

4 - Spencer ( probably broke even with an All Australian opponent )

3 - Watts ( excellent first half )

2 - N.Jones ( because he's on the field , regardless )

1 - Dawes ( contested and made an effort , often enough )

6. McKenzie, thought he held Danger pretty well despite him getting 7 free kicks didn't have a big impact.

This is where Mr. G Bartlett is correct. We've come to accept mediocrity. Terlich tried hard today and good on him but effort levels are non negotiable.

On numerous occasions today Dean's decision making was shown to have serious flaws. Handballing to a team mate in trouble, failing to take the first option and poor skill execution littered his game today.

Terlich is sh!t poor defensively. We cut him slack because it's his first season, but if he doesn't drastically improve next season, he won't make it.

I agree.

This has been a problem for many Melbourne players; as a first year player they look quite good but as their experience increases their form stays the same.

toump's best game for us so far ... but it certainly wasn't anything special. He only had 8 kicks and half of them missed the mark

McKenzie tried but probably failed

Toumpas points for actually attempting to get out in space at times

Can't think of any other demon who really beat their opponent

Grimes showed me what he could do back at half back with some weights, skill training and a bunch of confidence. Finds the footy and mops up with ease just has no strength to break a tackle or conviction to trust his options.

No huge standouts.

6- N Jones (By no means his best game, but was quite creative and ran hard)

5- McKenzie (Fought hard all game on Dangerfield, who unluckily got a few cheap kicks but his impact was limited)

4- Sylvia (2 goals, seemed to get in and under a bit more than usual)

3- Watts (Attitude was a lot better than last week, looked dangerous at times)

2- Dunn (Was quite an innovator early on, disappointing later on but still a decent game)

1- Toumpas (Best game for the club, promising quick disposal and movement, unfortunately marred by a couple of poor efforts)

    Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock.     Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded.     THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

    Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years.
