would we consider taking anyone other than aish at 2?

Posted

If Bontempelli slips through, this man is a jet. Beatiful left foot, 191cm, can play midfield, wing, hbf and hff. Great mover and has the Scott Pendlebury's about him in a big way. I'd much prefer him over Dunstan at pick 20

I wrote in the Aish thread earlier tonight. Kids from SA and WA were seen as ready made because they currently play against men. Gibbs, Trenners?? Myth busted. Josh Kelly looks a goer. We need to steal notes from Geelongs recruiter.

kelly is abit skinny for mine, his real asset is his endurance which wont be such an advantage at afl level, sheed or scharenberg would be worth chatting too

Josh Kelly.

Ever since Knightmare has said that Kelly won't be suitable at AFL level - posters run with it, I think it's BS and I respect KM extremely highly, I just disagree.

Kelly and Aish are blue bloods as far as pedigree goes and on performance over the champs Kelly was top notch.

I've really warmed to Kelly lately.

I have been pro Dom Sheed the past few months, but blokes I speak to - who know better than myself - say they'd take Aish and Kelly before Sheed easily.

That doesn't mean a lot... But there will be an inside mid sitting around 20, one will slip.... no doubt, it's a quality first round - and apparently even.

Dumont is my favorite player of this draft, It would be a dream if he fell to 20/21.

Top 3 for mine would be..

1. Boyd.

2. Aish.

3. Kelly.

I'd have Billings top 5 as well.

I wouldn't be factoring Essendon into this draft either.

Not to mention that we are a possibility to get a first round priority pick which will change things quite significantly for us.

Can we get Aish on the peptides now?

I seriously don't have any patience left. I just cant listen to 100 "Aish" threads describing him as the next Chris Judd... in 7 years time.

I am a patient person but seriously it makes me sick thinking about development. If anyone has a time machine speak out now! (I will accept a time freezing device also)

I am an undeniably handsome, 6'4 fighter pilot. And I am immortal.

Let's see if that works.

It’s too easy to pick players recruited from SA & WA with senior experience that haven’t met or exceeded expectations and selectively ignore players like Cooney, Rich Lewis Jetta and Naitanui to name a few.

Gibbs and Trenners are far from complete busts. Both probably have individual sets of circumstances that might explain why they haven’t met expectations, and I’d suggest the clubs they’ve landed at are part of the puzzle as well. 2 years in, I was very happy with how Jack was progressing, and I include myself in a group of many who can’t work out exactly what has halted his development.

There are no magical recruiting formula’s in any sport, never mind AFL. Senior experience can inform part of a player’s capacity to succeed in the AFL, but there are no guarantees.

Judd didn't have a massive frame coming into the system, he went alright straight away.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
