MCC Committee Candidates

Recommended Posts

MCC members have been sent their voting material for the annual committee election.

Though it by no means guarantees any preferential treatment, I like the idea of having as many Demon supporters as possible on the Committee.

There are 6 candidates for 2 vacancies.

Tom Hudson, John Mugavin, Charles Sitch(Demon, ), Mark Smith, Chris Stoltz, and Stuart Stockdale. Stuart has been a terrific servant of the MCC, but is a Carlton supporter with no love of the MFC.

If anyone knows of MFC affiliation of the other candidates, please could they make it known. It will influence my vote.

They are our landlord and also we used to be the MCC Football Club when I started following the Demons. Maybe if we stack the board we can send the filth packing back to Victoria Park or Etihad?

I doubt it CBDees way to much money involved.

Who is running last here do you think.

Collingwood, Hawthorn, Carlton, Melbourne?

Or just as good stop Carlton making the MCG their home ground...

We are not simply a tenant of the MCG, we are a sporting section of the MCC so we are in a very different position to other users of the ground!

It is important to ensure any committee member is sympathetic the the Football Section so vote accordingly!

How could I forget.

The rot started when we let this uncouth lot in back in the sixties!

Will Fowles is on the board, a Melbourne Supporter, and is a [censored] of the highest ilk. And at that echelon, Melbourne Supporters tend to be a little bit out of touch.

Could very well be why our board and club is so useless.

What: like Steve Smith!

My vote would be Collingwood then Carlton then Hawthorne then Richmond.

The superior Club is clearly thr MFC.

Do I get a prize for anwsering the question?

If Yes, can I get a box of Banana Muffins!

John Mugavin ran for election last year. The sitting members were re-elected.

Surely all the candidates would have presented a brief CV to the MCC of their expertise and background.

There is a short election manifesto for each candidate with the forms we've been sent. But , for obvious reasons, the candidates don't publicise their football allegiance.

I like the way that you have gentrified Hawthorn be adding an 'e' on the end. Nice touch!

Has anyone got any information re the MFC affiliations of any of the candidates?

Was Sitch a member of the MFC board before Jim's group took over?

If so he's definitely a Dee's man!

Regardless of whether they go for Melbourne or not we need to vote down anyone who's keen on this Carlton idea. It's guaranteed to result in less games for us at the MCG if Carlton gets the majority of their home games there.

Surely they can get together some Pratt millions and a few bucks from the pokies king and refurbish Princess Park. They only need to look at how well Geelong are going with their own stadium.

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

TEN YEARS AFTER by Whispering Jack

Things have changed in the more than ten years since the West Coast Eagles decimated Melbourne by 93 points on the MCG early in the 2014 season. The two sides had not met at the home of football in the interim until yesterday when Melbourne won by a comfortable 54 points to remain in contention for this year’s finals series. Back in those days, the Demons were in the midst of their Great Depression but they have since tasted premiership glory and experienced a long enough period among

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
