Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It's a Toumpas thread.

Please start a Howe, Sylvia, Davey, Grimes and Trengove thread and I'll comment.

He is (another) wasted pick. Face it.

Jumbo yoo are so right!

If I did start a thread, I'd certainly not be hoping it's so that you can post in it.

Toumpas is not a wasted pick. If we'd picked Wines we'd be 0% better, and you'd be whinging about Wines. Toumpas isn't close to being one of our problems right now.

Face it.

Cool.

How about this?

You stop replying to me, and I'll return the favour.

See ya :)

So there is a 25 page thread on a first year player in the most crapola side I have seen.

Do you really think this kid is our biggest problem?

Now I'm not a smart man but maybe we should be looking elsewhere in identifying the real problems in this chronically underperforming side that each year serves up the same dribble

People having a go at a 19 year-old first-year player are missing the bigger picture. In fact, arguably, the entire picture.

Our club is rotten. The culture is putrid. We can't develop players and are mediocre to the core.

None of this is Toumpas' fault - unfortunately it is now his problem.

Hey Mate doesnt seem to effect Jones does it you apologist along with half the idiots on this forum

SO why select him if you know that

Firstly, I didn't select him.

Second, the club selected him because he was the best available. Early picks must always be best available. If we got pick 1 this year and did not trade it, they'd be mad to pick a mid above Boyd, even though we need mids. That does not negate the fact that we must have mature quality midfielders to lead the way for Toumpas, Viney and the other young mids. We've been crappy at developing mids in the last few years, so he question I ask is, do we trade for that and who?

I don't think anyone is blaming Toumpas.

I blame the MFC as he was the wrong kid to draft.

You draft a Toumpas into a more experienced side. The guy we didn't draft would have suited our bare bones midfield better. How much is debatable.

Who would have struggled to have an impact whilst having no support, no fitness, no confidence, no enthusiasm, no leaders to look up to, two coaches in one year, neither any good.

Then, you'd have whinged about taking a slow, stocky, unskilled midfielder instead of taking someone who can kick.

Either way, we'd be right where we are now.

And you'd still be a fool.

This is your summation of Wines?

Wow, you'd better whisper that because you're showing yourself up as the village idiot you are.

Note to self: JR, you will only engage in talking footy. No more personal comments.

No, what I'm saying (this is probably too much for you) is that if Wines was here, he'd be way, way worse than he is at Port right now. He'd be far off the pace he's showing now, and the result would be that people like you who think that our first year players are a problem would be having a go at him.

Cheap one liner jackaub.

I truly doubt Wines would be having any more success with us now. Port have a midfield that can support him.

In the long run Toumpas will be a better player for us than Wines would have been. If we can get a couple of good senior mids like Sewell and Swan we can fast track his development. Toumpas can play.

It's not possible to judge after a handful of games. Many on here would have culled N Jones and Frawley after their first couple of years.

The problem is not toumpas as we all know it's this cancer riddled club he is gifted games he should not be getting would he be playing at Sydney? If I had a young draftee coming through I'd be pretty disappointed if he were selected to MFC terrible place to

Doesn't really make a difference?

If you're the one that is using age as an excuse then of course it makes a difference to the point YOU'RE making.

It's YOUR point, not mine. If you use age to make YOUR point then get it right. Then YOU'RE not corrected by people like me who are making NO point other than correcting YOU.

are you suggesting age isnt an excuse, how would you go been thrown in the deep end at his age? give him more than a handful of games to prove himself

I did no more than correct your incorrect assertion.

Or can't you read ?

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
