Player tweets

Hearing (second hand) that Jon Anderson on 3AW was speaking this morning about some Melb player tweets that were feeding through. It seemed clear the players are not unhappy.

I didn't hear it so can anyone confirm what Ando said or what player tweets have been made about MN??

Unless they have since deleted their tweets I cannot find one tweet relating to the sacking of Mark Neeld by a current Melbourne player. Can anyone provide a link?

Despite Fifty-5 jumping down his throat, I think Satyriconathome is spot on... it's extremely unlikely any current member of the playing group would be tweeting such things.

Cam Pedersen tweeted a nice farewell tweet the other day.

(Nb. when I say "nice", I mean that it was a normal "thank you and good luck" message - nothing sinister).

I follow most of them, it is buillshit, Twitter is quiet, assume they meant Moloney, a current player would not tweet that anyway

Saty, I'm sure we'd all appreciate a training report if you manage to make it to the next open session. Cant see Craig changing things too drastically however im sure you'd be able to chat to a few of the guys and get a feel for the mood around the group?

I was actually thinking about going Friday, although I notice in another post it is 3pm today, depends on whether I post or not, the paranoia displayed by some posters is becoming tiresome.

Just quietly, I reckon Pedo, Burns, Rodan and Gillies would all be a bit upset / nervous about Neeld's departure.

Don't worry about them... I get the feeling some of those posters are just pining for the good old days of IRC chatrooms where they could go in and flame away to their hearts content and get real time responses or news groups like Aus.politics... now THOSE were the days :-)

Gillies is the only one on a 1 year contract isn't he?

To get rid of the other players we would have to trade or pay out. Can't see the former being much chance, and the latter is probably not realistic, so brace yourself!

not pedo - he was signed for three years!!

And from that group I reckon he's got the least to worry about. His major concern will be the contract renegotiations after those 3 years. Pretty hard for him et al to play some cards with no game time.

dead right saty, in this current situation apart from miss moloney at brizzy no dee player would be that silly and disrespectfull

the panic merchant patties on this site would like for anything to pin on MN at the moment and for the next 2 years

some posters on this site would be panicked by thier own shadow

3AW are promoting what he said on twitter and their website but I haven't seen any specific names mentioned.

I like Jon Anderson but that's pretty gutless not to name names. If current players have tweeted something then it's fair game to be reported. If he's not willing to name names I'd suggest that means he's "interpreted" the content of a couple of tweets to be in reference to Neeld

Can only think it is Moloney, but he hasn't added to his wonderful contribution the other day, it would be career suicide for a player to do it, sometimes a joke tweet is sent out when they leave their phones unlocked, but doubt that as well, can only think the 'journalist' is looking at bogus accounts, there are a couple of Col Sylvia and Jesse Hogan floating around

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play
