Knights game plan was identical to Baileys in many ways. But he did help build the list that James is now exploiting.

But we need a much better all-round coach. if we give Neeld the boot then I would expect at a minimum a Leigh Matthews or Choco Williams style coach. Ratten would be an ok option if they aren't available and Ayres has good attributes.

matty Knights for me would be a massive step backwards. hasn't had success at AFL level and had a questionable game plan.

For instance, I have listened to Gary Ayres both on TV and at the ground in the VFL and he commands player respect. But the media tells us 'no' and so that's what it is. He's damaged goods. What a load of shite.

Without trying to be too much of a conspiracy theorist, the supporters of all clubs are now mostly lead by the nose....me included. Knobs like Barrett and his ilk plant a seed here and a seed there and pretty soon rumour becomes fact and we are told indirectly who is flavor of the month and who isn't.

Would like Ayres as well. My brother is now playing at Port and was listening to him in the huddle. He was fantastic, challenged the players and they instantly responded. Gave my brother a great spay which was good to watch as well! Would love to have him involved at Melbourne.

Matty Knights would not get my vote. Crappy gameplan and no personality. I will give him that he built a decent list, and was definitely undermined severely, but surely it is clear to all and sundry by now that mediocre will no longer do. We need to be bold and fight for our future. Fight for the best coach there is. If he "isn't available", do every bloody thing possible to make sure that he becomes available.If we want our players to attack and fight on field for the win, then it must begin at the top.

I'm not in favour of Knights right now for another reason. He has no AFL premiership experience as a player, senior coach or (I believe) an assistant coach. Which means he hasn't experienced the extreme efforts necessary to achieve that goal. That's not his fault, but until he's been an assistant coach in that environment, I don't think he's ready. Of course, that could change by the end of this year. Then I think Knights would be ready to be reconsidered but that may be too late for the Melbourne appointment.

Could be asking for a heart attack if Swooper took the job Biffen you're right. But I've mentioned on another thread that he just ticks so many boxes for mine. Including taking two clubs that had missed the finals for 22 years & 12 years back into September. Been there and done it before. It would certainly require making sure he had some experienced assistants who were ontop of the current games trends.

Lethal is an interesting one, dark horse maybe. Not sure if he has the desire anymore (like Thompson & Craig) but you never know....
