Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Collingwood chasing Sylvia

Clearly I think this post is spin and BS. As an example are you trying to tell me that Paterson who is a direct replacement to Martin is better than Martin???? I could go on and argue most of the points here, but it is circle work, people no hear have read it before and know my opinion.

How anyone can defend Mark Neeld is beyond me. It is defending the indefensible.

Spin and bs? http://finalsiren.com/PlayerCompare.asp?SeasonID=2013&PlayerName1=Stef+Martin&PlayerName2=&PlayerName3=&PlayerName4=&Compare=Compare&SelectedPlayers=2081%2C have a look at each players stats and tell me if you think we actually lost ANYTHING substantial. I'm not saying pedersen is a world beater, but you used him as an example. Martin was 3rd or 4th in line for ANY position he could play here, and at Brisbane he still can't get a solid run at it. You do realise some players just aren't up to it? You used Martin as an example of a player who left directly of not getting along with mark neeld. You then go on to claim you "know" that Sylvia, watts and frawley are all headed off, even though frawley is contracted and watts can't leave anywhere unless via trade or PSD. I put it to you that you are a muppet and you live in a drama filled fantasy land where you think all players and coaches at other clubs get along like BFFs from high school.

Nothing but hysteria and tunnel vision in any of your mindless rants. Try finding something positive to look at. Like the fact we have found a couple of very commendable players in dean terlich and Matt jones, or that we played with some genuine mongrel and fire on Sunday. We all know the scoreboard hasn't gone as well as we wanted, but at least we aren't holding onto as many poor players as we were over the last 2-4 years.

You would do well to get your facts right - Stefan Martin has been out injured for some weeks - indeed still has 4 - 5 weeks to go - and had played every game until then. We got nothing for him and picked up players like Pederson & Gillies into the bargain. Poor thought out on any number of levels.

Stef Martin out injured? Well isn't that something that we saw a lot! Either way, he has played 4 games. Click the link above mate, you'll see that he hasn't set the world on fire there. Anyway, that's enough revisiting of a past player who is not on our list anymore. Good luck to him either way.

This is what I am hearing from a player manager who directly looks after a number of Melbourne players including one of the following:

Watts: seriously considering asking for a trade, has been approached by a number of clubs. Is said to interested in Carlton, Multhouse has been his mentor and he wants to play for a coach he believes in, and believes in him.

Frawley: Likely to ask to be traded

Sylvia: Likely to take free agency

This is on top of last years walk outs. Make no mistake Martin, Moloney and Rivers all left as a direct result of the coach. That is 6 players in 2 years. 5 of which are in our top 10.

Get your head out of the sand!

Lets get this straight. A player manager who looks after all of Moloney, frawley, rivers, Sylvia and watts seeks you out to tell you that all of these players are seeking a trade because of mark neeld, just so you can run to demonland and create a large enough protest and have mark neeld sacked.

And my head is in the sand?

Perhaps you should read my posts before making comment. Show me where I said any of this? Its total BS?

Mate, if you don't want to believe what I am saying, that is fine, keep you head in the sand, but if you are going to quote me quote me accurately. Also please consider your comments with the predictions I made last year. I was smashed for what I said on here, mid-season I said Moloney and River would walk, I said Martin had a massive fight with Neeld and would never play for Melbourne again. I said Neeld was losing the players with a militant approach. You guys smashed me and at the end of the season almost everything I said would happen turned out to come true.

but the counterpunch was and still is, that we should not be concerned with losing any player that can't hack it under a 'militant' regime, that the laid-back nice guy regime of Bailey was exactly what we are trying to get away from. To that end, Rivers was our ONLY loss last year, we don't know to what extent that was to do with money. Moloney doesn't count, we all saw the garbage he dished up last year how can you blame that on Neeld. Cash is these players' only motivation, but out of some phony sense of not wanting to look like complete mercenaries, some other reason HAS to be publicly supplied (eg: Chris Judd's 'facilities', Gary Ablett's 'new challenge', give me an effing break, who do these blokes think they are kidding). Obviously Mitch Clark can't get his head on telly and say the reason he came to Melbourne was because he would ultimately make several hundred grand more by doing so. You are saying 'Neeld has caused the loss of 6', in reality we have lost 1 at this stage and I remain unconvinced to what extent Neeld was responsible for that.

All of those scenarios are likley to be true IMO

however Chippa wanting a trade, and actually being traded are two different things entirely

Same goes for Watts too. If we can work out an amicable trade then it may well be worth considering especially seeing as Carlton have plenty of mids that would interest us. If we cant work out a trade and Watts wants to walk to the draft then we pick him... or he ends up at GWS!

Sylvia is the only one of the 3 where we cant have much say in the outcome. But even in this case, if we want him enough we can keep him. We just might have to pay [censored] cash

Agree with most of that DemonWA

However with Sylvia If he wants out and even if we offer more money he can just go.

Well that is how I understand the unrestricted thing.

PS with Watts I will agree to a swap with Carlton.

WE get Murphy and they get Watts

That's a joke right? We will get nothing for him and he will go on to become a very good player elsewhere. Must keep

Of course it was a joke C&B do you really think Carlton would let Murphy go anywhere.

Unless the offer was very good I would not entertain it.

Bit over the top??

Is it really unrealistic to expect players that have been at the club 8 + years to want to chase some success before the end of their careers? Especially in the position we are in as a club at the moment. We need to build success not just hope it happens overnight.

Watts has done nothing for this club to date - Frawley has to be traded before he can walk in 2014 (so there is a lot of water to go under the bridge). The walkout you are talking about might want to add a few more decent players (ie Howe, Hogan, Clark) before making such dramatic statements.

And I also have a player manager contact - you're mate should tell you rival clubs ask about players all the time, and managers take and talk contracts offers all the time

I believe your heart is in the right place GNF - but all i read from you is scare mongering

What compensation could we get for Sylvia if we don't pick up any free agents? St kilda got a first rounder for Goddard didn't he?

I would have thought we would get a late first round early second round pick for him, he may be considered more valuable given he is one of the few experienced players at our club.

I have said this before and I will say it again.

The only hope we have of holding onto our senior players is to change coaches imminently. Neeld is a absolute disaster. Last year Moloney, Rivers and Martin left as a direct result of the coach, this year we are set to lose Sylvia, & Watts with Frawley likely to ask for a trade. I am not making this up. Pretending these players are not important and brushing this crisis under the doormat is beyond stupidity. River's may have said he wanted to play finals, no doubt this is true, but he would have stayed at the MFC if we had a coach he believed in. This is not speculative talk, this is well known in player management circles.

We must change coaches to someone that can create self belief and inspire our players as soon as possible. Someone who not only believes in our players, but also makes football enjoyable for our players again. The very existence of our football club depends on it. We are starting to resemble a 2nd division team that is nothing more than a player feeder club to the 1st division clubs.

A head coach is responsible for the entire football department. This includes on-field performance, list management, player satisfaction, culture, confidence, self belief, and recruiting. I challenge people to tell me any part of the job Mark Neeld has had success in.

I love the MFC and I fear the way we are headed. I will not stop until Neeld has gone.

To me the continued support for Neeld is mindboggling. Simply it is beyond me that anyone can support, what has been a disaster of an appointment. How much more pain do you guys want? Talk about blind faith!

I just want to think about this for a bit....not saying there is no truth to what you are saying but...

If players are leaving because of Neeld, why? Because he is too harsh, demanding even? If true, then it smacks of the player militancy that reared its ugly head in 186.

There has been too much of a poor culture at the MFC and Neeld was given a mandate to change it. Can't say i disagree with that. Our players have shown a pizzpoor effort for a number of years despite 'line in the sand' games and 'must win' games and 'must show greater effort' games. The bottom line is, for whatever reason, the payers have let everyone down.

My loyalty is to the club and its colours and history. The current players will one day be gone and I will still love the club. Any player that destroys my club I will be very angry with. I want them out of here before they do that.

Neeld may not be able to coach. His record to date is scarily bad. But I am not seeing effort either. If I was seeing effort I could make a better judgement about the coach. Yeah its his responsibility to a point to get the players giving effort but I like the L Mathews view of the world. Look at the losses and work out who in those losses is consistently bad. Then get rid of them. I think thats not a bad way of sorting out the duds.

I am not certain of this but I thought the compensation thing was closed down last year.

I don't think there is any in 2013.

Does anyone know for certain?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
