Dr Bates may be this weeks fall guy who is next???

If Neil Craig and Misson are implicated they need to go too. I like Craig and Misson is supposedly top notch, but this club needs to start acting like a competent footy club and deal with inappropriate behaviour responsibly.

Clearly Neeld would also be in strife. Might be the perfect opportunity to bundle him out the door without it costing a fortune.

Naturally, my comments are dependent on clear findings, which will take a while.

Have to say BH it has crossed my mind over the last 20 odd hours if the board are losing their support with Neeld and they can find anything in the contract which has been breached relating to the current revelations this will be an opportunity for them to act and not be faced with big payouts.

If this is the case and they take it to the AFL I believe they will receive full support in taking action against anyone who may be implicated.

Then again will wait and see if there is any truth in this Healy rumour

If anyone knew we had dealings with Dank they should go.

Neeld's fragile position as Coach is not necessarily dependent on this.

There is the issue of whether he was aware.

But if its the case that Bates has lied then he goes and Misson and Craig have gone some explaining how a maverick doctor has engaged with Dank on supplements without their knowledge. FAIK Bates was Misson's appointment.

I was worried at the time Drs Daff and Fried were forced out......could be for good reason.

Is it possible bates kept these dealings from the higher powers and that's why they produced what seems to be a lie in the statement?

can't think of any other reasons they'd be silly enough to lie about that

What has Bates got to benefit from making players take substances - the chance to lose job and go to court etc?

Your saying the club was unaware of any form of contact with Dank - I think that's impossible. Your saying one of our captains, a number of players and staff (Bates+mission+?) did this behind the clubs back?

It's plausible that Bates may not have informed Misson and Craig. So at this point it's not impossible. Trengove could have taken a legal prescription to the Sth Yarra pharmacy to get a substance that was not banned? How is that going behind the club's back?

Then why didn't MFC make the disclosure at that time.

Schwab would have gone for other obvious reasons. Had he still been around at this time, he would be ripe for the chop.

He may have kept danks influence from the club and just mentioned he wants the players to have these substances, may not have felt it was something they needed to know so long as he had the approval for whatever it was.

I don't think anyone can jump to conclusions because we know little but if we accept that ABC's report has truth behind it then our communication with Dank ended the day Essendon went public. I think that the major tanking investigation was just coming to a close - to what extent would our club go to stay out of the press? (even if their association with Dank was legal)

My bad - I thought those texts made reference to Mission and or Craig. As for Trengove I was more making the point that do you think any of our players/staff would go behind the clubs back? (with regards to Dank/substances)

Can someone enlighten me on this. didnt our last Dr leave because he was being asked to report to the sports scientist, yet dr bates is getting advice from an external sports scientist, is mission our sports scientist, if so how does Dr Bates do anything without mission or who ever our sports scientist is knowing?

Any major announcements yet?

Yes the MFC have been asked to remove themselves from the AFL and join the VFL. Problems arose when VFL rejected their admission so they were stuck on a mantelpiece in the longroom for posterity. Unfortunately the cleaner through them out with the trash.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
