Good evening all,

Although its the least of our problems, I think next week the beards should go. This picture I took I hunk says it all (note GWS doing a better job against port then we did). The first part about being a professional is looking the part. If are Sydney and playing in the finals and its a superstition or some such then we can look into it. But been part of a team that has had the biggest loss in history at the mcg perhaps next week as a statement everybody turn up clean shaven, hair cut and looking like people who want to give a fu@k about their team and the jumper. Just a minor point but when u have absolutely nothing it's a small start.

U might not be the part but at least try and look it ffs.

Ps

I'd be happy to see 20 changes next week. Jones, Howe, Clark and Viney stay. Emerg. Frawely, Davey, Blease, Grimes the rest Casey players. I'm sure the afl will give us a dispo so we don't see more recorders fall next match...

If gillies turns up ill be damned. Troy Davis or Strauss or jetta with garland tall anyone is worth a go over gillies. Pedersen forward and sellar back would do me as well.

And then watts. I'm 50/50 if he's turning up to play but even if he I don't know what to do with him.

If he does boxing or tackling at training ill be damned. I'd re recruit moloney just to get him to belt him a couple of times. I'd ask him if he wants to play afl. Unless you got a manly response id send him to casey

What's all this fuss about beards? They show you that the players really care about something, and adds some interest to the evening for Melbourne supporters. The football is of little or no interest, but you can have an enjoyable evening admiring and assessing the growth. I think you know who is a really standout in the beard department, and is a fair chance to take the B&F in that competition. The prizemoney is nothing, its his determination to win that shines through here.

I do Chook(o). If they had always had them than fine whatever. But as its a bet I think after being part of a demons team that had been beaten by a record amount on their home ground I think it's time they got rid of their bet an concentrated on basic football. Anyway. The whole thing is embarrassing. Leading the vote count would have to be gillies or watts the fuss all about its just football Watts...

The beards are a symptom of the disease crippling the club. There's a reason police and army recruits need to be clean shaven, it represents discipline and oneness, all the same no one man stands out from the other. The other problem is its a bet for 50 lousy dollars. HOW ABOUT HAVING A 50 ON WHO GETS THE MOST CONTESTED POSSESIONS INSTEAD?

You're talking like growing a beard takes effort. Literally all you need to do is avoid sharp objects near your face. How much effort should that take. Seriously, it's totally irrelevant.

I think Carey was more picking at the beard because beards are manly - and our players are female.

In other words, some of our players look like tarsan - but play like Jane.

Until they play like Max Rooke, they should trade their beards in for skirts.

Adam Goodes has a beard - fair enough.

Jack Watts has a beard - WTF!

Th problem people have with the beard is that it is a competition between some players - can't touch the beard at all, player who leaves it the longest the winner. A bit of fun, a lark. Now's no time for a bit of fun or a lark. Shave them off or make them neat and play bloody football.

Beards should be a non issue, to be honest I like them. We are out of form and playing crap, beards has nothing to with it.

Making them shave them off would just reduce morale even further, and to be honest, morale and confidence is probably our biggest problem right now.

Should they take down the club dartboard too? No time for that either, right?

I'm not saying the club should force them to do anything. But Watts described it as all a bit of fun. Things aren't fun at the moment. I'd like to see the players themselves deciding times for fun and games are over.

I was actually quite surprised Jack Watts turned up for that stupid MKR segment before the bounce. I appreciate players need to have lives but it just goes to show that for some, the cart goes before the horse. Usually you have to become a good player first before you start doing the media stuff.

The beards are another thing. Shave the bloody things off. You guys have huge bullseyes on your foreheads. Don't give people more ammunition.

Look, I agree with that in theory but I just wonder what real effect it would actually have. I do see that it might be symptomatic of a larger issue, but targeting a symptom does nothing to eliminate the cause.

I'd be astounded if they rocked up next week with the beards still in tact. trying to look like a tough guy and then playing like a [censored]. I'm fed up with jack watts.

On the other hand...Mitch Clark can grow a beard down to his feet for all I care. Our club is a laughing stock

They should be told that the beards must stay til we win a game........FARK...I'm getting a vision of the future

Dumbest thread ever, plenty of player play well with beards FFS. Hell I bet I could name a side that would be pretty good full of players with beards.

So if they did we would suddenly give a [censored] and bust a gut out there? Not a chance.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
