Should Schwab step done, probably. His record of being associated with success is really poor and there are other threads listing his successes and failures. Cats fans tell me Cook and Costa demanded high standards and put in place people like Wells, Bomber and Chris Scott. Did you know that Cook played 4 games with us in 1977 ?.

An employee who was interviewed for the Andrews Report told me that the feedback they and other staff had given was quite unfavourable to both CS and CC. Did anything happen internally apart from moving CC to entertainment ? Details of the report have not be released by the Board but I expect still have relevance with regards to CS. CW was certain that CS was directing CC and DB in 2009 to secure draft picks for his "premiership model" but he must have covered his tracks too well!

A player told a confidante of mine that CS would enter the rooms at half-time during DB's rein and advise the players how to play. I know this last point is not news.

The club is in turmoil and the CEO must take some of the responsibility. The appointments of key officeholders such as the head coach and recruiter are part of a CEOs mandate. I was there with Essendon supporters last night and they said they took little joy out thrashing such a pathetic team (would rather it be Collingwood). The fact that we are here after 6-7 years of rebuilding is demoralising. However we do have some excellent young talent at Melbourne and there is life left in some of our older players (Davey's kicking last night was really good).

Let's start the process of renewal. We need to talk to the AFL, review our board, CEO and Coach (BFFS don't ask GL). Maybe they can build a case for summary dismissal if he won't step down. Anyway let's hope they do something.

The first thing any new coach should do is appoint Clark and Jones as the leaders; no leadership group just two players. How in Gods name can you find a 9 man leadership group in that lot?

Tanking culture - I would suggest that many of us supported whatever it was we did in 2009 albeit with great reluctance believing it would benefit the club in the long run as it did with Hawthorn (Roughead & Franklin), Collingwood (Pendlebury & Thomas), Carlton (Murphy, Gibbs, Kreuzer & ultimately Judd) & Richmond (Cotchin) before us. You can go back further if you like. It could be fair to say that the club's now feeling the effects of the AFL's selection of us alone as the patsy that has something to do with our current malaise but it wasn't Schwab who precipitated that, allowed it to go 7 months or encouraged disaffected ex-employees to come forward with their stories.

Junior Mac was let go at 33 years of age. It was a match committee decision instigated by Dean Bailey. If there was a leadership void after that happened, the fault lay with poor recruiting and development from long before Schwab's return. Moloney was no leader - he confessed to having an alcohol problem after he was caught out having a night on the [censored]. As for Rivers - give us all a break but he was never going to be a leader.

I would add that in my view our current problems are not related to the talent on the list. We are every bit as talented as Port Adelaide and we beat Essendon last year. The problem lies with the attitude of the playing group and its interaction with the club and the coach. I'm not denying that some of that might involve their relationship with the board and/or the CEO and administration. None of us mere punters who follow the club can be entirely certain on that issue (and I won't accept hearsay on hearsay and glib little second hand anecdotes from dubious sources) but the answers need to be found swiftly and the matter needs to be dealt with decisively.

He looks the natural leader now and I would think a new broom would see the leadership group trimmed. Trenners does need to go back to his own game, this is my hindsight, it thought he may be able to do it but it would be better for him to concentrate on his game now. Jones and Grimes should lead the club but I'm not as sure about Clark yet.

That's not a "fact", rather it's a complete fallacy.

By the time James McDonald "retired", there were no players recruited from Schwab's first stint still at the club.

Brad Green (the next captain after Junior) was recruited to the club at the end of 1999 by which time Schwab was gone. We had an entire decade during the Daniher/Bailey years to develop leaders.

During the intervening time the CEO's were John Anderson, Ray Ellis, John Phillips (temporary), Steve Harris and Paul McNamee. Of that lot, only Anderson and Phillips were any good but if you're relying on the CEO and not the coaches to develop on field leaders then blame them and don't revise or distort history.

Grimes has already been more effective than Jones this season. Grimes and Trengove should remain captains and Mitch vice captain.

Because many of us have had personal discussions with players where they have stated their disdain for the role he played in ending people's careers and the detrimental affect that is involvement had on how Bailey was allowed to do his job. That he remained after 186 beggars belief but now surely it is evident through another coaching change that we have problems higher up. The black cloud will lift when he, CC and Harrington go and I hope the AFL step in and do it if wr can't manage to work it out ourselves.

There is something wrong with the players. It's as if someone has been shagging all their girlfriends. I don't mean that but something is stopping them from busting their ass and buying in. There has to be something behind the scenes going on.

I'm not trying to criticise your opinion (yet), I'm merely trying to understand what it is about us that drives people to call for Schwab's head.

That's pretty much what I am saying. My initial thoughts about it were that the players need to harden up and get on with their jobs. The fact that they are so disgruntled and bewildered that airing their grievances before 186, at the request of the board, still saw no action i believe saw a number of established players give up on the club completely (frawley and rivers included). To me that's enough to suggest we're better of with a fresh start in that role.

Yep I have changed my tune as well. I thought 186 was a bailey issue. Schwabb has to go. He has been the constant through these crap years off the field and on. I thought 186 was something that hade to happen to make some change but nothing has.
