McLardy, Schwab and Co must go

The board and football department should release a book called the idiots guide how to ruin a football club. They've had their chance and have cocked up at nearly every turn. Unfortunately if no one offers a solution then we are stuck with them, although I think a lot of positions at the club will become untenable if we continue playing like this in the coming months.

I'm interested In the AFLs opinion in how the club is Being run. The AFL sells the competiton to the networks as an even competition but most games involving melbourne and the expansion teams is a guaranteed loss. Surely there will be a please explain soon. Perhaps if the board needs to be removed and/or football department positions the AFL could step in and make recommendations to replacements which I'm not against. We can't keep making these monumental mistakes, we won't exist soon.

I have family members who are entrenched in the football industry and the horror stories I hear about the business side of our club is heartbreaking. If the club manages to get off the canvas with the current administration it would be a miracle. It makes trying up support this club, paying your membership, and going to the games hoping for improvement is like entering a boxing ring with your hands tied behind your back.

I really hope the media keeps on their back, keeps them honest. We are being fed so much BS from our club through the media, that there's no problems, and we need to stick the journey, blah blah. There are too many people involved that are more about self interest, than the clubs interest. That's why people like CS stick to their guns in the war, instead of doing the right thing by the club and supporters by leaving.

Sick of this boys club, they are all protecting each other. The AFL rules over all of them though, they will be found out eventually and hopefully we will get our club back into good hands once again.

If you hear things why don't you spill the beans? The situation can't exactly get any worse IMO. Players performance often reflects the morale of the club overall. We hear a lot of moaning, people with conspiracy theories etc but not one amount of solid fact written here to support it all. I'm not calling you a liar I just don't understand why people don't provide the specific information to what they are referring to. Make people accountable if that is what has to happen to improve the club. I've read most of all the threads written since Sunday & there are a lot of theories & allegations flying around without anything to back it all up. From what I can see it's the players & coach that need to be held accountable. If the players have issues with the administration they should either let them be known or get on with the job. There was roughly 5 players that gave 100% on Sunday if there is a reason for that the players need to take responsibility & sort it out. From my perspective they are responsible for giving it their all on match day. The coach might give instructions but he can't make them run, chase, tackle, man up, defend etc. If the coach fails to inspire or motivate them then the club will have to make a decision.

Webber, I agree blame has to be also put back on the Coach and his assistants. My main question is we were never going to win the game with the structure/game plan that Neeld has developed. Where was Plan B. Malthouse went to Plan B and nearly won the game. Why were there no changes made in the last quarter. Put Frawley at CHF or Jack Watts in the forward line. Making changes is no admission of being wrong. In my eyes making changes is a sign that someone can be flexible. Neeld seems to be inflexible. Anyway whats the worse thing that could happen - we could just get charged with tanking - again! The team played woefully - that is the players and the FD. They have to work out why is that they can carry out the game plan at Gosch's but they cant when there is an opposition. Lack of confidence, Neeld is uninspiring - well JV and Matt Jones and Jimmy Toumpas seemed inspired. Gillies and Pederson to some extent were just outplayed - duds and should never have been recruited. Rhodan and Byrnes from what I could see tried their hardest. But where was the run and carry that gives your fellow team mate confidence that there will be someone else with you. Where were the leads - just standing flat footed. To me they were standing out there with a whole of lot of football plan in their brains saying now I have to stand her or I have to go there - oh thats not to plan what do I do now. Any semblance of individuality and flair has been coached out of them with the exception of Blease because he is expected within the "Plan" to run and carry.I dont think it is the Plan as such but the way it is being coached, its inflexibility, the lack of player confidence to carry out the Plan when it gets tough. Only winning can get back that confidence. Jack Grimes can say that they all move on quickly but in their subconscious there must be something telling them that they just cant do this.It is now up to the Club including Don and Cam to sort out with the FD why the players cannot implement the Plan and why there does not seem to be Plan B.

I agree with all you say longsuffering. There is a disease of second guessing and confusion amongst this group as to how to play. Footy is so quick these days that decisions have to be made rapidly and with confidence. Our boys make them sooooo slowly and with no confidence at all. I hate all this talk of them being spineless and lazy, cos it's just not logical. ANY AFL listed player, elite skills or not, will show the right stuff if they have confidence and belief in their teammates, and the way they collectively play the game. As a TEAM. My point is, what or who is responsible for their collective inability to respond competitively when they're on the paddock?

The board and administration are very very quiet......gutless lot have not come out in support of Neeld.

Wouldn't be doing that.

It'll sound like he is close to be fired. The dreaded Chairman's Display of Confidence.

He has 43 games left on his contract.

I don't know why you posted Stuie, it was the normal five or six sitting in the circle doing mutual intellectual masturbation, as far as they admit, none of them have been anywhere near the inside of the Club, so they will have no idea what has occurred, they use reliable sources such as Caroline Wilson and Brock McLean to confirm their conspiracy theories.........they are just not sure exactly where the grassy knoll is

For anybody that is interested, Don McLardy was at training today, getting around the supporters present

Rangey, didn't even both reading the posts, already know what they contain

Said it at the time and stick by it apparently he was in the final 3 shortlist but we should have went for Hardwick. Whilst he was a first time senior coach he would not have allowed himself to be controlled.

Should have hired Sheedy, Choco or Eade when we had the chance.

No mate that's what the Schwab supporters were calling for after the Geelong debacle and look where we are now. This carp about don or Cam not getting a kick is just a furphy, of course they don't but they set the club up and CS has overseen one failed rebuild and has gone back to ground zero with another. Don't you think the club is already divided? CS is the only CEO that causes this level of angst in the football world.

And if he loved the MFC like he says he does he would leave the building, we could easily slide into 6million in debt again 1,000 times quicker than we got out of it, theres not another CEO in footy that divides the supporters like this guy, he wouldnt have the guts to walk down the main street of Fremantle, those Dockers fans on Big Footy have been telling us to get rid of him for 4 years,he wont get another job in the footy industry again, who would take that baggage.

You mob are like that Tracy chapman song talking bout a revolution. But come AGM not a round is fired. Happy to listen to you all talk tough now but all those who are talking up big now better be doing the same at next AGM. If you don't and we are still here next year talking bout a revolution. Expect some vigorous feedback from myself and other D'Landers.

Especially since a lot of you are sick of the rhetoric from Neeld and Co and you want results I and others should hold you to the same measure.

In fact this thread would make a great political campaign platform to get the word out to members. Not sure if that's allowed though.

I personally don't see the need for change and quite happy to continue with current regime but if you get up I will support you all. So good luck and happy campaigning.

It is one of life's mysteries how Hardwick was passed over for DB - every time I see him I'm impressed. Same can be said about the Scotts & Sanderson for that matter. Let's hope MN turns out to be as assured.

I suggested Tracy Chapman's 'Talkin' About a Revolution' in the 'Songs to run out to thread'. Coincidence or omen?

Forget AGM's old chap. This fire's already been lit. And no amount of spin from the suits will satiate the 'mob'.

Yep.

The media vultures will be there to photograph the 'mob' (aka paying members) with their placards and as the weeks go by the empty stands round after round.

I spoke to Don McLardy this morning before training and he was disappointed with the senior players like Garland and Frawley on Sunday. He expects a massive improvement against Essendon. Aaron Davey told me that he was really excited to be playing Essendon tomorrow and was determined to put in a good performance. Jack Viney was chomping at the bit in training and his intensity is higher than any other player. Jimmy Toumpas trained well and looks happy. Rory Taggert told me that he believes that Dean Kent is going to become an outstanding player for Melbourne over the next few years. Personally I would like to see Taggert and Tynan get a game, both of whom look fit and ready to go. I also think that Tom Gillies will have a much better game this week. Mitch Clark and David Rodan were very subdued at training and I am hoping that this is not injury related but more of a way of focusing for upcoming games.

This coming from someone who said:

That passion that flickered within your Dad until his final days, P_Man. They call that the 'warrior spirit'.

It's why this club won't die.

Just lip service?

But which sentiment?

I think you are being an alarmist and you are feeding people's irrational paranoia that we might not exist.

I am not a fan of this at all.

The brass have shown they are bereft of said spirit, so will have to be removed by those who aren't.

Charges of 'feeding irrational paranoia' and stoking 'alarmism' are judgment calls, which you entitled to.

I disagree.

We've been through one of these dances before, you and I.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
