Gloves

Perhaps some kind of explanation might be helpful?

I don't understand why they are making them (or at least certain types of them) illegal. Everybody has access to them, so nobody is really at an unfair advantage. Not that I really care at all...

Cloke uses gloves that supposedly have a substance on them that assists him to hold onto the ball.

Cloke takes more marks than most big forwards.

Might the gloves give him an advantage?

Ban gloves, then there's no conjecture.

And it just might limit Cloke's ability to kick bags of goals against us.

The AFL feel as though they need to tinker with the rules every year. if their tinkering is limited to outlawing gloves, well thats probably easier to take than if they decide to change the interpretation of fundimental rules like they have been doing recently.

I saw a report on ESPN recently where they compared the friction of human skin to the new types of gloves that GridIron receivers and defensive backs are using. The difference was stark - the new gloves have about 8 times the friction, or stickability and are getting better all of the time.

The AFL has to nip this one in the bud, ban them now!

Should have done it years ago...The gloves make a huge difference.

But yes i am thinking there will be an AFL standard glove soon.

More Logo space.

According to that same article the gloves have no effect when wet. Infact the human hand is better. Lick your fingers, away you go

Neeld has achieved this already by allowing Rivers to depart.

Thats a bit harsh - Rivers should never have been left one on one with him. Coaching error.

Didn't they eventually shift Rivers to Dawes and Frawley to Cloke, only for Dawes to expose Rivers one-out in the goal square and kick a couple quick on him as well?

We are a better backline for Jared's departure, as does out leadership group.

While their at it, they should have a think about plastercasts on forearms! especially the fibreglass plaster cast

ask Lloyd how to use a cast.

The glove has changed the NFL. Ridiculous catches are being had now.

I'm most impressed that according to The Age one of the banned gloves is the Nike Superbad.

I am McLovin!

I vote for zero tolerance.

They didn't need them prior to Tony Campbell coming along, they sure as hell don't need them now.

That's 2 votes not sure we are going to swing it H_T

You should have herd Eddie on triple M this morning going on about it " who cares" he says.

Of course Eddie is saying this, collingwood has 2 key forwards wear gloves.

I remember PJ always wore a glove. Sure helped him clunk big marks.

Wish he'd chew on it. It might shut him up.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
