Dean Bailey speaks out about tanking

Demonsterative

Recommended Posts

Bailey's lawyer expressed concerns about how the interrogation was conducted. Denied he coached to lose and played younger players after the club could not reach the 8. He will fight any charges

Bodes well for the club

Sorry another tanking thread, Mods merge if you think

If there is breaking news on a topic that inhabits an existing long thread I think there is value in it being posted in a new thread. Some readers may have given up following the often repetitive posts in the original thread and may miss the new development.

The trick is to avoid the 'breaking news' thread from becoming a new place to post on the topic (or even to stop it becoming a place to post opinions about thread management...)

Leading the ch.7 Sport Report was the story that Bails' lawyer said that DB denies all Afl allegations of changing his coaching style mid season admitting only to playing more kids as our finals chances disappeared.

It's worth a new thread to get this news out there, it is not more of the same because we haven't heard from Bailey about this issue since he left the club.

I would say this is pretty significant news.

The thread can be merged later when it drifts down the same path.

wish he'd said that a year ago and we mightn't be here discussing an afl inquisition

He was asked a Question at the Press Conference...He answered fairly.

If he had said nothing it would have looked worse.

Rock & a Hard Place.

Good on you Dean...He is sticking by the club...

Fight it Dean...THe MFC will.

I think he's more likely got his own hide in mind, and fair enough.

Dean Bailey is not at all worried about the MFC in all of this. DB is worried only about DB.

Stand up guy? Losing power player more like.

He did what was best for the club and his career suffered because of it.

In his final presser he said he put the club in the best position for draft picks.

That isn't revelatory or damning - it is what teams do in losing seasons in a draft regulated sport.

The sooner the wider football media realise this and get the pole out of their collective rectums the happier the partners of these losers would be at home while having to listen to their inane prattle.

I was alway [censored] off that he sat on his own at that press conference myself, considering all that had gone on.

I thought that was a pretty poor day from the MFC

Dean could have gone to town, but he didn't.

Fair enough he has denied "Tanking"

So what do they expect from CC & CS

I would assume much the same. If we can't make the finals then play youth to see what they have.

Maybe they should have let him see the season out then... sacked 3 or 4 games out isn't pretty. Loyalty,,,,, 2 way street. management, thats another matter.

well loyalty to himself says he should have been more circumspect. after all if the club goes down so does he

Yes, we definitely need yet another thread to be started on this topic...I saw the Bailey item on Ch7 news, but nothing worth discussing here in a new thread. Suggest you visit the AFL investigation thread that already exists.

I would much rather read this short new thread if that's ok with you. Bailey's latest comments and that of his lawyer are certainly relevant and well worth discussing.

He told the truth.

???

sometimes you can be so naive wyl

so some assassins from the media ask you a loaded question and you have to tell the truth, FFS

he didn't have to lie but he didn't need to throw petrol on the fire

as i said it wasn't smart for his future quite apart from the club

i do agree the club could have handled the departure much better

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
