Don't be boring guys! Garlett could be anything. Bit of tough love and out of his friendship group he'll come good!

Hasn't worked for Sylvia.....

We have such a great track record with indiginous players.....Farmer, Jurrah, Charles, Lawrence, Bennell, Wona, Weetra, Cockatoo-Collins x 2, Weetra etc etc.....

Wiz was okay....hung around.

With the amount of new players and improvement in our younger players, it is going to be very difficult for a rookie to make an impact. FD is therefore justified in picking a couple of project players who may improve in a year or two, to give themselves a chance.

Spot on I reckon

Garlett, he's the best talent to come through in a long time.

Theres obviously more to it than drinking and smoking.

Because most clubs would back themselves in to turn a wayward youth around,

so the kid must have done something really bad.

It's a shame, he's exactly what we need,

Leigh Osbourne is another player we should look at.

Wheels, Davey, Jetta, et al say hello (and Bennell didn't exactly walk out on the club, so I'm not sure why you listed him)...and how many non-indigenous players have walked out on the club?

Another for Tipingwuti here.

Dale Roberts! B)

Personally I'm going with Colquhoun.

We could do with another small defender/midfielder who can use the ball well.

Strauss is yet to make that spot his own yet, so with Colquhoun, Tarich, Jetta & Toumpas to possibly spend his first year down there it could certainly give us some options.

I've been opff the air so to speak & have just got my internet backup. I've been busy & hadn't realised Colcohoun wasn't picked up

Is there an issue re him?

Not that I'm aware of. He's lightly built, so there may possibly be a question mark over his ability to compete against men maybe???

I like Dyson.... He could be a good pick up....

Did anyone pick up josh toy?

Nope.

I chose other, I would redraft Jai Sheahan, showed heaps in the finals at Casey (one of the few) great kick, can play either end.

Why not just resign him? was delisted after 1 year

Garlett ,purely because he can suck back cans and smokes with Neeldy after training whilst we build our culture thingo.

If only neeld could pull it off!

Choosing Garlett is a make or break decision. He could be a brilliant pickup if we can get him back on the straight and narrow. It maybe worth Neeld, Rodan and Davey having a chat with him to see if he can make the sort of commitment that the MFC will demand of him. Possibly put into place some strategies to assist him in that, obviously moving to Vic should change who he associates with at least initially. The downside is obvious he stuffs up then we have lost the time and money that we could have used to give another talented kid a break. Tough choices, I suspect we will leave the riskier approach to others and play safe.

I may of missed it, I know Garlett has been reported as trouble and if is so we dont need him with what we are trying to build. But I actually haven't heard what he has done wrong. Can someone please enlighten me?

hmmm... tend to agree

All i have seen is that he drinks and smokes excessively for a prospective draftee, making now effort to hide the fact, mainly prior to a champs game ect, letting it effect his footy if it on its own wasnt issue enough, it also raises major commitments questions

Also suggested this may be the beginning of it....though

would think that it has to be much more

Everyone must be treated on a case by case basis. Neeld must add flexibility to his arsenal.

He may end up playing like Cyril. We must take the gamble.

If we can't mould him into our culture, then simply delist him and send him home. Otherwise, we may have excluded ourselves from a diamond in the rough. Personally, I cherish the wonamirri, farmer, jakovich and Jurrah experience.

As a supporter, I want a garlett experience.

Even if it only lasts 3 years.

Wishful thinking, how about adding some flexibility to your thinking. He's a culture sore and would be the last thing we need now, if we select him I won't renew. It would prove this club has learnt nothing and wants a [censored] culture. All you morons that want him want our club to be [censored].

Lovely.

I just want him to play good footy, and have a good time kicking 2-6 goals a game.

I don't care if he lives wild, I only want him to play wild.

All he needs to do is handle the training.

Let's see if neeld, Craig, mission and viney can help him thru.

Pre-season is bloody painful work, especially when your indigenous and don't really value money.

We must be able to nuture rebels, just incase they turn out to be a beauty.

Wayne Carey, Lockett, ablett, Jakovich, farmer, all very unstable characters! It's hard to be a freak without slight mental problems

I'm sorry, you can have an opinion either way on this but to state that you wouldn't buy a membership based on the club making a strategic decision on one player is pathetic.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
