Since Free Agency will be a constant threat/force in AFL circles, next years crop of FA's is shpaing up to be even bigger than 2012!!

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/pies-contract-woes-move-to-thomas-20121105-28tve.html

Along with Buddy Franklin, and after a bit of research im sure there is plenty more names, and just decent players, up for FA in 2013

Daisy would be an amazing pickup for our midfield you would think. Pace, attack, flair/x-factor, and has definitly grown into a more mature player the last 2 seasons

Freo will be all over Franklin like a fat kid and cake.

We should be too - as will most other clubs. He is a freak on the field and probably draws crowds better than any other player in the league.

No we shouldn't.

We have already spent enough on Clark, Dawes, Hogan and Pederson...

You're pigeon-holing him as a forward with those comments.

He's much more versatile than that.

I was talking about Buddy, in reply to your comment about Buddy.

But you knew that.

Well when you said his more versatile then Dawes, Clark, Pederson and Hogan, can you explain what you meant specifically?

If you have a chance to get a one in a generation player like Lance Franklin, you try and get him. When a player of his calibre and profile is on the line, forget about structures and that stuff.

If you have a few Ferrari's and then you realize you have enough money for a Lamborghini would you buy the lambo?

I think I would prefer to spend the money on a house or a boat rather then another car.

Okay.

Buddy runs through the guts, playing the midfielder role pretty well. I am certain that any of our players you mentioned above are not able to do that, at this current point in time.

Just personally I'd buy a house before I bought a Ferrari...

But anyway, yes because it's called upgrading.

It's not like all three of the guys you named are going to fill the forward line for the next decade anyway - stuff happens.

Funny how Collingwood are re-writing history in that article. Lynch was recruited before Dawes was traded to Melbourne, and it is because of that, Dawes wanted to leave because of diminishing opportunities. "Like for like trading policy", what bollocks.

Capitol "C", cc?

I'm not so sure. Our culture is the Most important thing right now. Trying to rectify decades of a miserable one.

So great on field & off field leaders are that which we need most.

Lamborghinies have Ferrari engines though.

Dale Thomas is a more intersting prospect than Lance Franklin given our list.

Yes ............. and perhaps a (small) outside chance - whereas Buddy is no chance at all - absolutely no chance at all

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
