hi i have found this vision around 1min 45. He is a speed freak. He along with Sam Blease are our 2 line breaking jets.. he has pace to burn

Looks an absolute jet!

He moves like Stephen Hill, so light on his feet, kicking probably not as good,

but we can fix that no doubt - plus he does spot up a couple good kicks in his highlights package.

I watched the OP's footage of him before we drafted him and thought he'd be a good pick around 26,

if we had to take Viney at 3.

He is exactly what we need.

His footskills are brilliant, very precise by foot. Not as penetrating as a Hill, but nothing that needs to be fixed.

Guys, surely by now you can realise how terrible you are at predicting players. On this forum, I've read that Watts was the next riewoldt, Bate was going to be a gun, Wonaeamirri was going to be AA forward pocket, Gysberts was going to be a silky smooth taller midfielder like Joel Corey, Jamie Bennell was talked up the same way that Barry is now, Lucas Cook was going to be a partner in crime with Watts and labelled the 'Twin-towers', Morton the next Goddard etc. Can't we all just shut up and stop pretending like each draft pick we got was a bargain and more special. We are one of the worst teams in the comp at the moment and the only way we are going to get better is by recruiting players from other clubs like Dawes, Pederson and Mitch Clark.

sad.......but true

Lacks kicking depth and looks soft as butter. My only concerns as a player.

Recent history would dictate that what you say is true, Freak, but don't rain on our parade at the moment. While Sydney basks in obvious glory we rue another season lost.Let our expectations of the current trade period burn brightly and for as long as possible.Let us hang on to our hopes and prayers that these boys will be the saviours. As likely as not there will be ample room for doom and gloom once the 2013 season starts.Until then ...... what have we long suffering D's fans got to be excited about?

FCS the doom merchants are out again, pouring foul substances on our brief periods of joy and anticipation once again. We have few enough, can't we enjoy them untainted please?

Of course none of us KNOW just how the new recruits will turn out, but just a touch of positivity at least for now wouldn't hurt, surely.

GO DEMONS - AIM FOR FINALS IN 2013! (Sorry if that offends some 'supporters' here)!

Lewis Jetta is a deadset star, Dom Barry is spare change in a deal for Hogan and was rated third round by most people in the know... chill guys.

I like the fact that Barry was apparently put on our radar by McDonald and Taggert.

They will know what he's like.

That's interesting Ron. I had a chat with Taggert and Tynan in Darwin because they were recently out of the TAC Cup system.I asked them whether the club as ever sought their input into players that they rate or may have heard good reports on. They both said that the club has never asked them. Maybe they are starting to be proactive.

I would have thought it would be a good strategy for the club to be getting input from players as most of them would have a good knowledge of players from their recruiting zone.

I am not building the hype, BUT Jetta was not even drafted in one draft, if not 2

Or we might have been dead lucky and indeed only paid change for a player that could blossom.

Yeah yeah it's all raffles and lottos but hey, some kids DO actually turn into players.

All the way through this trade period we've seen the club target guys who have ability without necessarily ever likely to bevAA, but nonetheless very serviceable. Why do some ( and who are far less informed than the club) choose to suggest they suddenly dropped the ball re Barry ?

If this had been CAc or BP selecting then I'd possibly agree as their targeting was somewhat over eager in the "potential" realm but I now see the club looking at players( even the kids) who have some harder edged pedigree.i.e. they CAN play.

This draft so far (I'll include the md) we have Jesse Hogan, gun in waiting; Jack Viney soon tbr as Jack the Ripper; and also Barry.

Seems the MFCSS want us to believe after two goals wed kick it out on the full !!.

If Tommy Mac reckons the kid can play I might just take his word for it as he can and does.

Some of you are bloody pessimistic doom and groomers, the kid just might be the 'actual' find of the draft.

Yeah, be bloody terrible to have a Long/Jetta type carving his way through the midfield !!

He mightnt be......but he could be and that's the thinking of the club.

I'm backing the club !

Lets not knock the spare change just yet.

Wayne Carey was the spare change in the deal North did to get John Longmire.

Having said that , I'll believe it when I see it.

I admit I love the look of his highlights but they are only highlights. Hopefully he has the qualities to be a great player and I'll trust the club on that, I'm just not going to get the hopes up too early like in the past.

Posted

Wish him all the best and hope he has a great career in the Red and Blue.

Having seen all of about 2 minutes of highlights, obviously haven't seen enough of him to say what he will or will not be. He did appear to be decidedly an outside player - which is ok, to a degree.

I was just going to write:

"So it begins..."

Spot on, another saviour for the club. Its great to have hope but lets the kids develop that way you wont be crushed if they turn out a different style of player.

But I love the idea of doom and groomers. They'll be the ones who get nice haircuts for the apocalypse.

I hope I'm not misrepresenting this.

I think I read it on the official website.

Whilst I agree with you that it is absurd at this stage to state that Dom = LJetta, surely one can be permitted to at least dream, especially after the horrible past few seasons we have all endured.

You choose to call him spare change - I choose to call him an unknown quantity at this level who could be something or nothing; but I am happy to fantasize at this stage.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
