This was a disappointing year, with multiple injuries for Stef, and he struggled to make a mark as he has in recent times. Stef has the ability to be a very good player, but injuries didn't allow it this year. I really like Stef and see huge potential in him.

I will judge him by 2011 and forgive last year as they all ran around like headless chooks .

I think he offers a lot more than he's generally credited for here. He put himself through a massive pre season prior to 2011 and reaped the benefits. Never really got rolling in 2012. It appears from the outside that the FD consider Pedersen an upgrade so Stef is outta here. I think his best is yet to come. He should do well wherever he ends up

With new Rucking Laws Stef has now become a keeper. Ruck Duties have just become more athletic. The asset Martin has.

sure. But his trade value has gone up, so who do you go after?

Ruckmen will have to cover the ground quicker as the stoppages will be dealt with quicker by throwing the ball up.

His trade value will be dependent upon the interest of other Clubs. There is no certainty that Martin's price has gone up. We still dont have evidence that there is clear interest in him. Its all rumours at this stage and there is no evidence his trade value is "up"

The changes to the rules are hardly going to revolutionise the game to the extent that it suddenly makes one style of ruckman redundant and another supreme.

And there will hardly be any more commercial breaks if you speed up the game. In the past eight years the game has increased in speed dramatically and the scoring has not necessarily got any heavier. So there have not been more goals (= ad break) than before

So unless they introduce commercials during the play then it is unlikely to allow more commercials being shown than the multitude shown now.

It makes no sense.

No it's all relevant because the nature of the game is being changed to suit the broadcaster...

Throwing the ball up around the ground on DRY days will speed the game up...Ruckmen will have to be fitter & be that much closer to the ball at all times, because they will lose that 5-10 seconds of set up each time..

An athletic player like Martin would be at an advantage in this style of game, (yes he has to improve) but i think he has now become a keeper for the up coming preseason at least.

Jamar is not quick around the ground..He will not be a fan of KB's new rule at all.

Ever since the interchange Bench evolved from 19th & 20th men, and then to 4 on the bench the game has drastically changed.

Nobody stays in position anymore...I am not making anything up, just observing.

The condition of the ground is irrelevant. The time difference will be the time difference between the action of bouncing the ball into the air and throwing the ball in the air. Its no more than a second. Umpires will still have to set up to create space for themselves to exit the contest.

I think your fantasising the impact without realising that efforts to speed the game in some areas will be countered by the tactics of coaches to slow down in others. We are not talking a speed revolution in football here.

Agree. Not sure why we seem to be in such a hurry to offload. FWIW I think there's a huge upside to him, not sure the coaches agree.

Perderson on the other hand appears to have become a champion - amazing ..

On the right track, but completely misunderstanding the motivation. It's the speed of the game that's important, not the ads. Same reason you can chuck it out of a pack now without being penalised.

That i agree with. The issue at hand is maintaining the game as a interesting spectacle that will encourage footy fans to tune into FTA football and maintain ratings and therefore the value of AFL TV rights.

GIven what the centre bounce rule took out of the game, that is the extended run and jump at the bounced ball what is the killer app that is going to revolutionise the game. We are splitting hairs on time here.

There are already a number of stoppages where the ruckman dont make it. And if Sylvia and Howe are contesting the ruck then we will lose the ruck unless we are competing against Jetta and Harvey.

I think we need to see what we will happen before making rum predictions. I am not sure Martins trade value has increased at this point in time.
