I believe Martin was re-signed for 3-years earlier this year, if we aren't able to do a trade (which wouldn't surprise me) we're stuck with him.

I do wonder whether if we get Pederson whether we back him in to be our chop out ruck. With Clark and Dawes in there as well as possible chop outs it really does make Stef's position in the best 22-25 in jeopardy.

I have Martin down as contracted til 2013.

Thanks Nudge love your work!

As for future tradings, I hope the Pedersen deal works out. I also hope above all else we can get a deal done to secure an early-mid first round draft pick by bundling a few OC players (or ones looking for a trade like Martin or Gysberts) potentially with the FA compo pick (Moloney & Rivers) to acquire Jake Stringer. He would then join other first years like Viney, Barry, Wines/O'Rourke, and Hogan (2014), then that to me would be the ULTIMATE trade/draft period by essentially acquiring 4x top 5 picks along with experience from Dawes and Brynes and a younger Pedersen to step in and replace Rivers.

Fingers crossed :)

Bundling players. Hmmmph.

Based on the "American Pickers" principle of bundling old junk 0+0+0+0= -1, bundling makes em cheaper not more expensive essentially.

Pederson is 25 yrs old and played 16 games . can't see why most on here are so keen to get him.

Because he is more of a fwd than Martin and we want a fwd who can help out Jamar rather than a ruck that can't play forward.

And if we get Pedersen it keeps Clark out of the ruck if we don't want him there.

What about two of jamar or martin and petterd orgarland for gws pick 3 we can use on Grundy plus wines @ pick 4?

Either way jamar or Martin as our number 1 ruck with Grundy (only going of reports he is ready) 2nd Ruck/forward?

Would prefer to keep Garland but otherwise I would be thrilled to do that deal. Jamar or Martin and Petterd and even Morton.

Pederson, being 193cm and 100kg (as reported on kangaroos.com.au), would be very capable of holding down a KPD role along with Chip when we play teams with a few hulking forwards. He can pinch hit in the ruck and in the forward line as well.

He is similar to Martin, although he's more of a "footballer" than Martin, where as big Stef is more of an "athlete".

Listening to TWR - I can't remember player managers/AFL list managers ever being this available and talkative with the media (esp. the list managers). Wonder if there has been a bit of a push from the AFL to help out their radio venture?

Often they obfuscate and talk in cliches but sometime they even say something concrete (eg Geoff Walsh saying that pick 20 wouldn't get it done for Dawes).

You guys need to stop this nonsense. Where in the world do you get these ideas? Do they bear any resemblance to the clear, methodical approach of our FD? Get a grip boys and leave it to those who have a clue.

I know you're all entitled to your opinions but FFS at least try to give them a semblance of common sense. i'm more than happy, based on what I've seen so far, to sit back and wait to see what unfolds over the next week or so.

Go Dees!

At the risk of being found out as someone with no idea, what does NQR stand for? See it all the time and never figured it out. my guess is Not Quality Required. Now tell me, did I make a dill of myself?

Just a hypothetical after hearing Neelds comments this morning that we have enough kids, is Dom Tyson better than Wines/O'Rourke/Toumpas/Grundy.

Would the club trade Pick 4 for him?

Not something I am in favour of doing at all, but was just asked the question by someone at lunch when he mentioned Tyson wants to head back to Victoria

Interesting to read on the Superfooty feed that Carlton were seriously into Dawes. As were the Dogs of course, easy to think sometimes that we got him simply because we offered something. We competed and won.

My uncle-in-law is filthy at the fact that we might snare Pederson. Believes he has simply been caught behind a few lesser players and been forgotten.

I've got a good feeling about us next year. I'm not going to bat on about finals but I think we'll be that word that Dean Bailey kept talking about that begins with 'c'.

There are many words that begin with "c" and I'm hoping for only two of them!

IMO his versatility in the roles he can offer, & I think he may bring some aggression to the roles.

If this is right, he could become the Leroy Brown type, who could play some 'hard' roles for us.

Maybe you should be more concerned about why Neeld is keen to get him. It might help you reach a conclusion.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
