Give the guy a break....he has had injuries throughout his career that limit him to being as good as what we expect..

We have seen glimpses which means he has the ability to turn it on and rip open a game. Something our team lacks in a big way.

Reckon some of you guys need to pull your head in

Sometimes I really start to think if some of you guys really should follow a club like this...I have often heard yells of "no ticker etc" when in fact some here are the ones with no ticker.

Don't knot about most, but I back our players in all the way and yes there are some that aren't deserving of a jumper, however to sacrifice a player like Sylvia would be sacrilege.

End of rant

He said most talented player, not best player. I agree that there are better players, but Sylvia is our most talented. Unfortunately we only see it a couple of times a year. He seemed to be more consistent over the latter part of the year, so hopefully with an uninterrupted preseason, we can see it a bit more often next year.

lee how..so far from the truth. that's a myth that needs to put to rest. Sylvia started the season with shocker of a back injury. he came back the second half of the season and was one of more consistent performers.

Is Sylvia,s value up now, then what it will be 12 months down the track.

What would we get for him if we put him up for trade on Monday?

I post this question because I can just see him following his mate Moloney down the Free Agency road next year.

Would it be more beneficial to us if we trade him.

Ash...lets tackle next year when it comes upon us. This years hard enough to deal with. We've lost Jurrah, Moloney and Green retired.

that is exactly what i said mate, you need to read before you post. with an uninterrupted preseason i would hope to see the more consistent form we saw from sylvia in the latter half of the season.

With Moloney walking away i think Colin will step up...

he gets my backing for 2013.

40-50 Goals Col....You know you can do it if you put your heart & soul into it

You have the Talent.

Not exactly....Sylvia played at least 8 good solid games this year. NOT A COUPLE.....

If we were to trade Sylvia, i would cry.

In my opinion, in Melbourne's top 3 players and when on his game, top 10 in AFL.

unless we no joke traded our pick 13 and Sylvia for Pendlebury, i wouldnt be happy

you are a [censored]. read my whole post, don't just take one line. i said he has only shown it a few times a year, but seemed to be more consistent in the latter part of this year and i hope with a good preseason he can continue that form into next year.

When Jack Viney comes to the Demons next year players like Colin Sylvia will step up big time because they won't want to be shown up for hardness at the ball and desire by a kid!

Col is an essential part of our future. He has had patchy form for a lot of his career, largely because he has never had a season that wasn't ruined by injury, but his best is as good as any at the club, and he is showing signs of maturity in the way he handles himself which will translate to better preparation and more consistency. If we can manage to get him through the re-season without some sniper taking him out with a cheap shot (which won't be punished), we'll see him come close to a B&F next year.

Posted

Col is a brut when up and running, his biggest weakness is he is a dumb footballer. He rarely takes the right option, never kicks to our advantage and realistically never will. Athletic ability might put him in the best 10 players in the comp, but even that is generous. Football smarts; wont make top 100

long story short, trade now, because he will try and walk as RFA.

Not only would it be a disaster if we lost Sylvia or traded him.. it was seriously put Melbourne fc behind the 8 ball.

If Melbourne are going to make finals or vie for a premiership in the next 2-4 years.. Sylvia willbe heading that up in my opinion

For mine, Sylvia falls into the "what we'd possibly get in a trade isn't worth what he may produce" category.

Well we will agree to disagree. Watts is far more talented but thats just my opinion.

Possibly the most dignified response to a disagreement on demonland... EVER!

I wouldn't exactly like to see Sylvia go. We've been having this conversation about him for about 10 years now and if he were to head over and dominate at another club... It would suck. Really, really suck.

It was a bit hard to judge his first year under Neeld considering how badly he effed his back. Would be interesting and I really hope he gets a full pre-season under his belt.

just imagine what Colin could do with a full pre season.

Sylvia is one of the only players at Melbourne who can completely singlehandedly bring Melbourne into games.

NOT THE ONLY ONE, but one of the few that have that ability.

Others include Mitch Clark, Jack Grimes, Nathan Jones and Sam Blease. Hopefully Trengove develops into that

LOL. Sylvia was indefensible three years ago. The main reason as to why MFC are pathetic is because we have put up mediocrity and 'promise' for years, not too mention terribl attitude and arrogance which is in no way justified.

I too was calling for Sylvia to go last year and got shot down but he is a culture killer and should have been out of our club a long time ago.

He may well walk, but will others pay him the same money?

That means, he'll stay??

You might be right, it makes me sick to think about though.

Unless our onfield performance improves this year we will struggle to attract any quality free agents and find it hard to keep our own.

We don't need to be top 4, but who would want to come to a team that gets smashed every week by an average of 107 points?

I'm getting a horrible gut feeling that we may again lose some much-invested, senior players at years end, trade or FA. Sylvia? Frawley? Jamar? Davey? Don't know why, I just think there is a certain stink of indifference amongst them that brings a little sick up to the back of my mouth. Some I won't miss, others may set us back considerably. God we lack the number of senior leaders that other team take for granted.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
