I just read this too. I think if Jack now comes out and tells Malthouse to politely go away, it could be a good show of faith for the club. If not, it could look pretty bad.

Why would they even bother.

The strange thing is you would think Neeld and Malthouse talk a lot , and perhaps Neeldy gave him some indication Watts wasn't happy.

Let's look at things another way... Maybe Malthouse picked up that Neeld wasn't happy with Watts.

Wow. Some of you are putting Watts on way too high a pedestal here.

Carlton would have to bring in another club to deal with because pick 11 won't pass the grade.

It won't happen. But there's a big thread on the main board where many 'landers were willing to trade him this month.

People are acting like Watts is comparative to Buddy and is untouchable. I like him a lot and I'd hate to lose him as I think he'll end up a very good player but if the price is right (in the eyes of the list management crew), you'd have to trust the club would make the right decision. The club is bigger than the individual.

To add to that, what the hell would we talk about on Demonland besides the frustration that is Jack Watts?

No. The point was, the article offers nothing to suggest we would trade him or that he would want to go. This could've written about any player in the league.

Denham has just stated on SEN that the industry has been shocked by the amount of Melbourne players putting feelers out in the market place.

Yesterday he said, "Melbourne are doing high 5's because Shannon Byrnes was even prepared to tour their facilities. Please."

I do find it pretty funny. The only players wanting to leave are the players that don't see themselves as part of the future. And they're not part of the future because they either haven't bought in, or are not good enough.

Yeah, no mention of guys like Jones, Blease and Howe re-signing this year, even though all 3 could find new clubs in a second.

Pathetic Denham at it again. He is a moron.

i'd be stoked to see Watts go. After watching the grand final, it's just scary to see Watts play in a game like that. His intensityand strength levels are way below afl finals football standard

Denhan just said lots of senior Melbourne players want to leave, a caller just asked him to name them but he dodged the question.

Why do I listen to this peanut?

Ive never even heard of him.,

Probably cos I don't listen to the radio I guess.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
