FAREWELL BRENT MOLONEY

I will genuinely surprised if Beamer is on an AFL list in 2013. I just can't see any List Manager saying "What this club needs is a slow 28 year old who couldn't get a kick in the worst midfield in the comp."

I've posted this elsewhere, but I reckon Jake Spencer has got more chance of winning the Coleman medal than Beamer has of getting picked up.

I was wrong.

I would also like to apologise to anyone who put any placed any bets based on Jake Spencer's goal kicking.

i'm with PF

whatever way you look at it - this is a stuff-up by the club

if Beamer himself didn't buy in/spat the dummy whatever, it is up to the club management to work it out, that's their job. You don't just let a situation transpire where your BnF winner is out the door for nothing 12 months later.

I admit he did not have a good year on-field - there is obviously a reason for that and the club should have identified it and killed it instead of losing an experienced leader that we badly need.

I think their treatment of Moloney was down to two things. One, I'm sure Neeld was wary of setting a firm example of at least one senior player. Part of the 'cut the tumour of deplorable culture' from the club. And two, that the FD simply didn't rate him that much.

We have no real way of knowing whether the FD tried as hard as they could to get Moloney "buying in" as it were. Either way, he didn't and he's left the club. We were never going to get fantastic compensation for him the way he played 2012.

Don't forget he asked to be traded to the Dons last year before Neeld had even arrived. Who knows what went down but evidently he had already decided not to buy in before he gave the new regime a chance.

How can we forget something that possibly never happened?

That was a rumour, as concrete as any other BS that floats around at this time.

After 186 it was all over for number 22

The guy was ill.

He shouldn't have played but Moloney went on to win the Bluey in the year you are talking about.

His problems are not so simple that they can be explained by three numbers.

Imagine if he has a good year at Brisbane in 2013.

The screams by a few on here for Neelds head will be unbelievable.

what did Brent actually do on the field for the MFC post 186??

SFA considering the position on the field he played.

That wasn't what you said - but if that is what you meant then that is fine. I thought if was a frontrunner the entire year in 2011 and he delievered a faux leadership that is seen in all team sports - lots of harsh talk and pointing and not much leading.

i have always said 186 was Moloney's last hurrah. It all backfired in him & he was outed to sit on the back bench.

For the club to let him walk for nothing tells me a lot.

I think that 186 was a touchstone for the club and its supporters but The Brent Moloney Situation was outside of that day. He was a 'leader' that faded against the best teams and his on-field leadership consisted of yelling and pointing.

The club was exposed on 186 but not everything can be traced back to that event.

no the 186 affair is a direct link to the lack of FD. The secret talks with Mclardy...etc. through all this Brent lost his power base.

2012 was a complete waste of time.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
