Is Billings the kid who plays for Scotch?? Absolute gun apparently....

Yes he does attend Scotch. Best mates with Luke McDonald (Donald's son).

Unfortunately he won't be eligible for this years 'mini' draft as still to young, although likely to got in the top half a dozen in next years draft.

Has foot skills that are elite in AFL terms. I think he would be exactly the kind of player we should be targetting in next years draft. Reminds me a lot of Luke Hodge, a classy midfielder with elite skills who can push forward and back and is not afraid of a contest (for someone with a similar size to Hodge as a teenager).

Being a family friend, it's quite amazing to see a 16yr old kid with the level of professionalism to training and recovery (who's often doing late night recovery swim sessions) that he has.

I was his athletics coach at Scotch for 2 years and still keep in contact with him, he's a ripper kid, fast and also incredibly fit with an incredible ability to read the play. Would love for him to come to the Dees.

Franetic is a great name

I like Membrey. At 188 cm / 87 kg he is ready-made and is using all of that size to impose himself on contests today. Is also the Gippsland captain.

Jackson Macrae the hero as Oakleigh win TAC Cup premiership

This article likens Membrey to Darling! If he is that good a player then we would be stupid to overlook him like we did Darling :)

He's a strong kid like Darling and leads up at the ball well, excellent kick. He reminded me a bit of Barry Hall with his lead up, 2nd efforts and mobility on the ground.

Funny to see the hun already overhyping Macrae and how intelligent he is, apparently being the only player on the ground who understood the golden point rule...

Now having seen the footage, he seems to have been none the wiser like everyone else, looking gutted after his shot was touched on the line and through for a point, only celebrating once the siren sounded.

I think Dale Roberts is better than all the kids on display today. Along with Whitfield and Grundy, would have to be the top 3.

I would hope a player like Membrey was already on our radar and this game has done nothing but bring him to the masse's (our) attention.

Smoky for #13?

What's Franetic like? Saw he was named best in last 2 finals - name is made for cult worship. Anyone know about him?

With a name like that I suspect he keeps himself busy.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
