If Tippett goes to the draft there is no chance of him getting to Sydney. A bit like Lambert and Brisbane (Walls), he will go were he is picked.

the only advantage swans may have is they have a higher salary cap than most (but not all) clubs

swans will have to do an acceptable deal with crows

if they can't/won't and tippett digs in then he goes into ND just like Ball did where swans first pick is a long way down the list

have i missed some thing where the afl can intervene on behalf od swans?

It's just words, wyl. Him saying he wants to go to the Swans doesn't make it so. If the Swans can't engineer an outcome using the functions provided by the AFL, Tippett won't get there. Remember how Nick Stevens desperately wanted to play for Collingwood?

What are you talking about?

He is like any player out of contract. He has got an offer and named a club he wants to go to. If there is no deal he nominates his price and goes into the PSD and the first club in draft order that wants to pay his price gets him.

If Sydney don't get Tippett then they will definitely get Dawes.

I have a gut feel that we will finish up with Caddy as a result of the trading/movement of the two.

On another note I wonder how if at all this impacts GC and possibly nomionating JV. I would have thought that the Crows would be keen to do a deal with GC over Swans, ( better picks and more young players ). If they tell GC to hang onto pick 2 and they will try and get him to GC that may be good for us.

Incorrect. John Reid who drew his contract and the Crows say that is untrue. There is no deal in place and he is like any other player. His management have not denied this.

It's far better for Adelaide that he nominates the Swans. Now They are pretty much assured of getting a trade for him. If he had come out and said he was going to GC then he could have waited until the PSD.

At least now GC have to offer up a juicy contract and a good trade if they want him, as do Sydney.

That can't be right because anything he signs is invalid unless he can get to the club. I would imagine another journo has got it wrong. At best a handshake of "if you can get me I will come on those terms."

If.....and I know this is a big if...... Tippett attempts to get to the Swans through the PSD like Ball then someone must pick him up before them. The fact Ball was able to rort the system like he did has set a dangerous precendent where players seem to think they can nominate where they want to go, hold their own and other interested clubs to ransom by threatening not to play etc and get what they want. Someone needed to take Ball even if he sat out 2 years, that draft rorting could have won the pies a flag and has made trading very difficult for the players original club.

I agree; the other thing is that the Swans have a reputation in the industry for being very easy to deal with; they pick their target and put their best reasonable offer forward first up (hence the Jolly, Mumford deals etc).

If Tippett had picked Essendon, on the other hand, I'd absolutely despair if I were an Adelaide fan.
