Out: Moloney. In: Goddard???

Hahaha people who say they don't want Goddard. Wake up will you...

If there is any chance of getting him...just do it. We already blew the chance of Ball.

Cripes how many chances sit under your nose?

Goddard is better than 95% of our list as it stands.

Goddard has been a champion player at St Kilda and his best form would be great for us.

However, this season he has become moody and angry with his team mates which doesn't look good on the field. This has affected his ability to contribute to his team.

He might well regain his form, especially under Ross Lyon. With our luck this year he'd be paid a fortune and contribute SFA.

is there any chance we could trade players (eg rivers, gysberts & or any draft pics) to get vardy from the cats?

i heard they need a defender to replace scarlett and that the cats have expressed some interest in developing gysberts.

was hoping we would draft him a few years back, but instead we went for gawn and fitzpatrick, who both have had thier injury troubles but dont really look like natural footballers, and often look awkward playing.

i know he has had an injury trouble, but i think vardy would be an excelent inclusion into our forward line, and would be handy as a back up ruckman. at 198cm he moves exceptionally well, has good attack on the ball, is a solid grab, a good shot on goal, and for a young KPP has a real presence.

Not sure of his situation at the cats, is there any chance they would let him go or that we could grab him?

I wasn't keen on getting Goddard initially but I have warmed to the idea. I thought his poor body language and lack of application in recent times would be costly if we forked out big coin to lure him but I think under Neeld he would work harder and a fresh environment and added responsibility could encourage him to work hard and teach our kids. It would obviously be good to have a player from a successful organisation and we have a huge amount of cap space now so we need to splurge to even reach the 92% TPP cap. I think we should get him. God knows we need the class and experience.

has reached an agreement with freo and will be announced in the next couple of weeks.

no chance

Is this an old post about Clark?

I would love to do that to them again. Simply put it would be negligent not to try for someone of his talent.

He is clearly unhappy at his current club and its time to go. We should go for it.

Goddard - no way.

IMO - he wouldn't be interested, he's too old for the time it's going to take to possibly rescue our club from the current mess, and what price would we have to pay in whatever form?

Forget it.

Things can turn around quickly with the right cattle.

Go after him hard. We have $$$ to spend.

Please throw everything towards getting BJ. He would look good in red and blue.

He is exactly the person we need. He is a beast who almost won a premiership for the saints with his accomplice Hayes. The most incredible performance I have seen 2 men put on a football field. it was like Lenny and Goddard vs Collingwood. Awesome stuff.

Goddard can play centre, FF, CHF, CHB, FB. He can almost play any position.

He is 27, and would set an even stronger example than Clarke.

He IS the man, and if we dont throw Rivers, Moloney, Martin and Jurrah's, combined wage towards him, we are not doing our due dilligence.

Come on WYL - you know he's not suitable for MFC at this time.

We do have $ to spend, but we must get value for money - not just throw it at anyone who looks remotely good!

He isn't coming to Melbourne. He doesn't have the time to sit through an epic rebuild at MFC. He wants to be in contention for a flag. Going to Freo would put him in a good position to do that. Ross is creating a pretty fearsome unit at Freo and they will do some damage in the years to come. Good golf courses for BJ in Perth too.

I think you are right on the money Devo.

As much as I might like him it won't happen.

It is Freo or St.Kilda certainly not the Dees

It's pretty obvious from Neelds statements that we will be going after some senior bodies. I for one am sick of this "won't be part of our next premiership" stuff. We need senior bodies to bring through the guys that WILL be a part of this supposed "next premiership", otherwise we'll never get there.

Exactly. You've got to have mentors in place.

Devo has nailed it WYL.

Please quote me in context - not just one post, ignoring the previous one.

If MFC survives this current crisis, it's going to take years to repair the damage done by Neeld and co. Goddard won't be around by then.

I'm reading a lot of D/land rubbish about trading for good players from other clubs (eg getting Vardy from Geelong - as if they would give him away, let alone that he wouldn't even dream of coming to MFC) - time to get real, we have been put below the new clubs by this year's efforts. Our only way out, thanks to Neeld and co's lack of political nous, is to draft young and hope someone else will come to the club to coach them well, if we can keep them!

I'm a glass half-full person and this is how I see the mess!

Guys have you actually looked at our list recently. Moloney gone. Davy wouldn't be on big money anymore.

We literally have no one to pay.

If we don't land a big fish this trade period, guys like Garland will be paid $800k just to pay somebody to get to 92%

Davey is in the last year of a lucrative contract in 2013 so unless we frontloaded he will be on big money in 2013.

Space in cap will open up with departures of Moloney and Jurrah. Have to guesstimate what they were on but of it was $400,000 for Moloney and $200,000 for Jurrah then thats $600,000 space now available in cap going forward.

In terms of the making the minimum 92.5% of the cap the club does not need to pay Garland $800,000 they can simply bring forward part of 2014 contracts to 2013 thus creating more room in the cap in 2014.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
