Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'm sure I'll get howled down for this, but this club is a joke. Ricky has shown on numerous occasions he can play, but Neeld has been unable to get anything out of him this year.

Why? Because playing as a medium sized forward in a team that averages about 30 inside 50s a week is a terribly hard job.

I still don't understand why Ricky wasn't given opportunities on a wing or at half back to get him into the play, same as Watts, Bennell and any number of others.

I will be really disappointed if Ricky goes, given the number of players on our list who have no discernable ability whatsoever.

At the moment he is a marking mid forward. Just does not find himself where the ball is often enough to play n the midfield. In modern footy half forwards who can't be part of midfield rotation don't last long.

"I am told from a well known players manager that as many as 15 have indicated a desire to leave the MFC. That is one third of the list." GNF

Lets assume the player manager is correct about this. That means two thirds of the list want to stay and are committed to Neeld's vision. As i said on anoter thread the only way we are going to improve as a club is if we have all 40 odd players on the list 100% committed to the vision. This is true of all really successful elite level sporting teams.

I suspect Neeld will be more than happy to assist those 15 players to leave the club - at least 12 of them will most likely go in this trade period alone (perhaps all 15?). They will replaced by players who like Clark will buy in from the get go. I for one can't wait - even if that means losing some quality players and a couple more years of pain.

Neeld's recent comments about how he liked the approach of Hardwick at Richmond gives a great insight into Neeld's thinking. It should be remembered that Harwdick heavily cut the tigers list replacing them with players who bought in to his vision and who play the game how he likes it to be played.

I'm heartily sick of demon players who play on their terms. The last time a dees team was completely committed to the cause was under Northey. That's way too long ago. Will Neeld's approach work? I don't know but i'd rather take that rtisk than go down the road of players calling the shots and leaking their concerns via social media and managers.

15 players want out? Good - there's the door.

Well all i hear in my head atm is the old adage....youre either with me or agin me.

You dont wont an army with any discontents. There is no halfway about this. Its like death and pregnancy: you either are or youre not.

You either buy into Neeld or you dont as a player. Those on the fence wil be pushed to see which side they grab.

Im all for holding the door open personally.

Actually it might be easier to get a trade for Ricky than Bate or the various other players who are clearly going.

Probably a good thing and if Neeld was really blindsided it might even get him to think about the way he's dealing with the list.

"If they behave themselves they'll be here next year!!" sheesh...which way is the door

Very true. Especially after you have just won the b&f.

I think Dunn is a must keep. He goes hard, gives 100% is a lovely kick and would be in our best 22 if he was just let to settle in one position. His value as a utility is significant. He is experianced in playing almost every position on the field outside of ruck.... and I think he even played 2nd ruck once last year. I would be shocked if Dunn did not get a new contract.

So do you want Dunn as a utility or do you want him to be settled into one position? I personally think he is best played as a utility and not in one position because he is good at annoying the crap out of the opposition, my only gripe would be his propensity to stage for frees when his natural ability in a contest is often more then enough to win it. It sh1ts me when he stages.

A case can be put forward to keep a couple of others on this list, but please remember we will also lose a number of contracted players who ask to be traded.

I can't recall any of our contracted players asking for a trade?

P.s Neeldy Rocks! lol

I am perplexed by Ricky P. With his tackling efforts against the tigers last year and his hard approach to the footy I would have bet that he would have relished under Neeld at the start of the year. I don't get what is wrong with RIcky.

That's exactly the way I feel regarding Petterd. He can be a really good player and from what I have seen at training in the past was pretty fired up and competetive there too.

His first game standing in the way of Barry Hall and taking the hit and the mark was a sure sign of things to come, so I thought. Bit of a mystery to me.

I want to know who is the "well-known players (sic) manager" that Grand New Flag cites - that's a question worth asking, and Demonland appears to have a "put up or shut up" attitude to posters citing unnamed authorities. Perhaps someone might apply this rule to Olisik's last statement - tell us, Olisik, or shuttup trying to look like you have inside information and contacts that you don't have. But, having read Grand New Flag's post, I think the question should at least be asked of him - what manager? what players? If there is substance in this allegation, it

I appreciate your comments Robbie. I am not sure which players want out but the player manager who told me ~15 had voiced a desire to move on came from one of Paul Connors player managers who looks after a number of Melbourne players.

Intresting i got this off bigfooty

Petterd to be offered for trade with a couple of interested parties including the GC, but will be delisted if nothing is offered. He missed a recovery session after a Casey game a couple of weeks ago but his cards were marked over a month ago due to poor attitude and Neeld not liking him.

So 15 of Paul Connors players at the Demons wish to go?

Mark Stevens will have a field day with this crap.

You out there, Mark?!

Put some pants on!!

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
