because gws will prob take toumpas at 3

I'd love to get Toumpas, but I hold the view that a player like Hogan and the structural benefits he'd bring to the side means that he becomes a more valuable proposition. Obviously I'm assuming that Hogan becomes a dominant CHF. Melb. won't try and trade for him unless they also see a dominant CHF.

Toumpas may become a better player than O'Rourke, but you'd expect that it wouldn't be by much. And if you can get Hogan and O'Rourke that makes the pain of missing out on Toumpas far easier to bare.

Look at players like Redden, Rockliff, Sidebottom, Beams, Sloane, Fyfe, Shuey, Rioli ... who were all taken outside the top 10. Or Dangerfield, Bartel, Rich, Selwood, Boak ... who were taken outside the top 5. Pendlebury was pick 5.

If we have to give up pick 3 for Hogan I'm all for it, as I know that there will be terrific players taken well after Toumpas. Just get the frigging picks right.

With possible FA compo picks to muddy the waters

yep...going to be interesting but I cant see the AFL handing out very many 1st rounders. More likely the 2nd round will get rather crowded with compo picks...thats my guess

Emphasis on 'many' old !!! lol

I still think most will be across the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Im still not even sure how many each club gets . Im sure we'll find out soon enough. :)

Just get the frigging picks right.

given our track record Id settle for , most of them prett yright and at least one spot on ( other than Viney..a given )

we have to do a lot lot better than weve done, but it would be a tall ask to get it perfect.....still....

ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT WE CONCENTRATE ON A PLAYER LIKE FITZPATRICK TO FILL THE VOID IN THE FORWARD HALF GO AFTER CADDY WE HAVE THE BEST DRAFT SELECTIONS TO ATTRACT A DEAL AND WITH VINEY CADDY & JONES OUR MIDFIELD WILL BECOME A LOT MORE COMPETATIVE> WE THEN NEED ANOTHER TOUGH DEFENDER TO HELP FRAWLEY THEN SOME MID RANGE PLAYERS NOT SUPER STARS BUT CONSISTENT TALENT WHO CAN KICK A BALL THAT CAN LIFTY OUR PERFORMANCE

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

POSTGAME: Rd 10 vs West Coast

Many warned that this was a danger game and the Demons were totally outclassed all game by a young Eagles team at Optus Stadium in Perth as they were defeated by 35 points.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
