Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

What the hell is wrong with Freaks post? He said he did not jeer or gloat but stated an opinion popular here in that Morton is not up to it and is a serial whipping boy which is a fact on this forum. He was very honest on the widely held opinion of Morton. Lucky for Morton he did get injured or else he would have been tarred and feathered out of town by the same hypocrites who now righteously defend him. And typical that one of the first pack dog responses came from a Bona Fide ostrich

In his (possible) defence, Freak may not have known Morts was injured, from the Southern Stand (where most of the noise came from) there was no clue he was hurt, in fact supporters near me were talking about him being the earliest sub ever used not due to injury.

I was there and people did jeer but I didn't really mind it to be honest. I know it's not the right thing to do and I didn't jeer myself but Morton doesn't deserve to be pulling on the melbourne jumper and he should be delisted at the end of the year. If a simple jeer gets through to the melbourne footy club that we don't appreciate them botching up our draft picks then so be it. He is our whipping boy for a reason!

Do everyone a favour, go support someone else. Idiot.

FFS calm down everyone....

Plenty of people here bag players EVERY DAY on good ole 'Land. Freak didn't say he jeered or cheered, just merely gave words to what a lot of us were probably feeling which was either bemusement, pity, or a sense of irony. Not THAT big a deal.

Really poor form if you jeer someone you know is injured, but as he stated HE DIDN'T DO THAT!

Get off your high horses internet lynch mob.

If Freak can come on here and say he wasn't aware Morton was injured that's a different story. But it had been clearly stated in previous posts that he was. Anyone who saw him writhing in pain on the ground and clutching his shoulder as he came off could have been under no illusions either.

I'm almost more worried that some of our supporters thought he was subbed in the 2nd quarter without being injured. Surely we are smarter than that...

Nor did he indicate that he didn't know he was injured. If he knew it wasn't the right thing to do, that indicates that (in the second qtr) a sub must have been because of an injury.

But I expect ignorance to the injury will now be claimed.

I was in the reserved seat area and the only noise I heard was the groans of pity for the state of his shoulder. It certainly wasn't sitting anywhere near where it should have been. He was in a lot of pain. I've been a critic but this time he had his body on the line. He took one for the team so I'm sort of hoping it's not too serious. He could still have something to offer.

I would suggest that people who thought Cale was subbed for playing poorly are ignorant and possib;y go to the football with no idea what's going on.

There was a murmur when he went of and thankfully no one near me said anything because I would have given them both barrels and quite possbily got ejected.

And to the moron on this thread who thinks it's OK (as long as others are doing the jeering for him) do you also think it's OK that the players on the field and in the stand hear this? WTF would you want to play for a club with supporters like that?

Pinged a hammy would relate to a subpar level of fitness, something that he would be easily able to influence.

Rubbish. That is complete rubbish. Michael Johnson has pinged his hammy. Usain Bolt has pinged his hammy. Do you think these guys were at sub-par level fitness?

On your bike mate.

This would also be the game he came back from a long stint on the sidelines so I thought that perhaps we was not up to match fitness. As I also indicated by the tone of my post that I regretted it later.

It's interesting that you use the handle Utah. That state is full of pious, holier than thou preachers. You would fit in well.

Joke of a move to put Morton on Ablett jr anyway.

I felt more for Jason Winderlich doing a hammy in the Ess/Adel game -

than I felt for Morton hurting his shoulder in our game.

Well I've jeered plenty of opposition injuries.

Frazer Gerig when he tried to baulk Carrol on the mark in the final.

Aaron Hammill when he did his groin tackling with his knees as he was prone to do.

Roared with delight when Whelan rattled Hirds bones in the Elimination final (tho' he came back on, played well and earned my greater respect)

And I thoroughly enjoyed Didaks effort.

Never jeered 1 of our own tho'.

I did not jeer. And i wasn't aware that morton was injured. I thought everyone was jeering simply because Morton was subbed out of the game fairly early in the game, which I thought was pretty funny. Those that didn't hear the jeers, probably saw the injury, and for those that heard the jeers (like me) they probably didn't see the injury.

Pinged a hammy or re-aggravated a groin injury. What's the difference? You still cheered an injury.

I was there and I cheered for three reasons:

1. He kicked it out on the full.

2. I thought he stubbed his toe doing it. You laugh at your own teammates when that happens.

3. It was Alan Didak.

Morts is out for the rest of the year.

In a strange way, it probably helps him. He won't have any trade currency but has a year left on his contract, not much else we can do with him.

It doesn't help him.

He needs to have a huge PS and this won't help.

I didn't see the injury, I noticed ironic cheers when the sub was announced, thought it was ordinary but wasn't surprised.

As for opposition injuries? Love em.

I cheered when Byron Picket tackled Kane Cornes into unconsciousness, and I was a big Kane Cornes fan.

Neitz injuring Luke McCabe - pretty much career ending - is one of my all time favourite highlights.

I cheered and laughed when Didak shanked that shot and hobbled off.

And I love when Luke Tapscott tries to demolish someones rib cage.

The news item on Facebook about Morton being out for the year has prompted some predictable comments early from keyboard heroes. I'm no Morton fan but to respond to a season ending injury with "good news" and "thank god" is disgusting. If it were up to me I'd have them serve a ban from attending matches.

Major difference between Cale Morton and Didak- I cheered Didaks's injury because he has made a career of being a niggly little b#@$tard even taking it one further or not only getting into players but also the crowd. This has settled down in the last couple of season since he cant get a game - I dont wish anyone permanent harm but if Didak comes back for his first game against us next Queens Birthday and pings a hammy I will cheer again. You reap what you sow .(as hypocritcal as it sounds I wouldnt cheer if he was stretchered offbut a pinged hammy or groin ? meh)

There are a handful of footballers who fall into that category - 99% of footballers who get injured I would not cheer.

I didnt cheer Cale going off and didnt hear it - as he went off I actually felt sorry for him becuase I really want him to do well

To those of us in the MCC reserve he was clearly injured. Was holding his arm to protect his shoulder.

Everyone around me knew he was hurt and the only expressions I heard were regret.

It was not a joke he was on Ablett - he was there because of his endurance.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
