Schwab and McLardy ... Time To Stand Up.

Speaking of leadership. Just wondering how Andrew Demetriou is enjoying his extended holiday in London at the Olympics whilst his lovechild Gil holds the reins and Adrian Anderson handles an important integrity issue for the AFL with new allegations before it regarding tanking (already previously ruled out after Bailey's comments).

I'm sure McLardy would make comment after AFL has met with Brock.

Hmmmm.... Would have liked something stronger, but I assume they have to wait for the AFL to "investigate"...

I'll reserve judgement on the MFC reaction until this happens.

You are much more generous than me stuie

Just the usual p--- weak reaction as far as I can see.

Not much more they can really do. Brock has made a fool of himself, MFC dont have to really explain themselves after AA investigated Bailey after last years press conferance.

If they don't come out strong after the AFL has done their bit then I'll be VERY disappointed.

Stuie This is my theory.

MFC is so far in debt to the AFL that they have to kow tow

AFL rings MFC this morning.

Guys you have been caught with your arm in the cookie jar.

You say you were just reaching over it when you slipped and your hand fell in.

We will then say we understand it is not the way it looks.

Ok

Oh you do remember who keeps your club afloat right?

Very keen to read what you would say in the press release OD.

Feel free to give your preferred version right here ...

umm come out strongly and say what ?

I'm not offended that Brock said we tanked.

I'm offended in his hypocracy on his reason for leaving and where he went. Sheer hypocracy if his reasons for departure werent such fantasy

I disagree.

That simple statement makes it seem that Brock is being investigated not us, and that is what is happening and what will occur. They will interview, he will back down and we will have nothing to answer for.

I am happy for now, but would like a strong statement when Anderson comes out with 'nothing to see here' in a couple weeks time.

The AFL are not naive and oblivious to teams with no chance of top 8 deciding to play kids and get established players in for early surgery. Been happening for a long time and will continue to happen. Looking at this behaviour from a certain point of view some would call it "tanking", others "list management", others "prudent preparation for the draft of next year...

They don't like the stigma of the term "Tanking" or the ethos of teams playing for anything other than an immediate win.

Brock will be told that his shouting of the dreaded "T" word on TV was not appreciated by the AFL.

Brock is a [censored] for not realising this.

I bet the Blues are just loving this distraction on the eve of a big game to keep their season alive.

I wonder what the big wigs at Carlton think about a player going on TV and divulging inner workings of a club?

Say goodbye to your new contract Brock!

I was thinking the same thing myself. The Carlton big wigs would just love one of theirs talking about other teams tanking.

If it means that T. Cloke is even less likely than he is now to look at Melbourne's contract offer ('don't go to a club with tyhe threat of draft sanctions hanging over it'), the Blues may actually be privately happy so long it's all quickly buried again by the AFL.

There was an executive meeting this morning, not sure if it was already scheduled or called because of this situation, but the word is there will be statements etc from MFC this afternoon.

Senior management meeting was already planned for this morning.

I hadnt realised that Seargent Schultz was on the MFC Board

"We know nothing"

I guess that might be a way of putting all the heat on Brock who surely didnt realise what he was getting himself into (I assume OTC dont provide a list of questions to be asked?) but it still doesnt sit too well with me given the current Boards long term record of creating fires then having to put them out.

If all the AFL is going to say right now is - we will investigate what was said and interview McLean - why do we need to say anything about what he said.

That would just be giving him credibility.

Keep as much of the focus on Brock as we can, the interview will lead to nothing and that will be that.

Unless the AFL uncover indisputable evidence (not just a former player saying he had a feeling) that Melbourne tried to lose, then simply using the excuse that players were played out of position is not proof at all.

More so, if McLean's statements are proven false then I hope the club pursues it's legal options against him for making false accusation.

I agree with the club's stance. The AFL need to talk to Brock and come up with an appropriate sanction for him. His inflammatory comments are damaging the integrity of the game. He needs to pull his head in and concentrate on doing his own job, not pull a Sheedy and take cheap pot shots at us.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
