Would love the demons to come out on the M.C.G with SLAYER pumping out raining blood.

Better then that stupid trumpet guy.

Let some real DEMON music play.

I always pump some heavy music on my way to the footy for the demons.

Essendon have there stupid bomb siren we should come out with Slayer,Metallica,Lamb of god,Devil driver.

That would give me goose bumps and pump up the boys.

Some in the MCC like my Grandfather might not like it though.

Time to play like DEMONS.

Absolutely despise that, with a passion

Makes our recent record against them even more satisfying

And can't really imagein Devil's Son by Devil Driver going down too well with the MCC :D

Eclectic mix. MOR shlock or metal the genre of choice here apparently.

Glancing through my spotify playlist, heres a Demon flavoured mix:

Jeff Farmer will have his revenge on Seattle (Nirvana)

Step Into My Office Baby (Belle & Sebastian) - Mark Neeld come September 1. Repeatedly.

Lets Stay Together (Al Green) - Tim Harrington

Since I Left You (Avalanches) - Brock McLean

No Distance Left To Run (Blur) - Brent Moloney

One Armed Scissor (At The Drive In) - Liam Jurrah (yes tenuous at best)\

Too Drunk To F*&K (Dead Kennedys) Nathan Carroll

F.E.A.R (Ian Brown) - Cale Morton

Slow Hands (Interpol) - Jake Spencer

Been Caught Stealing (Janes Addiction) - Allen Jakovich

I'm Waiting for The Man (Nico & Velvet Underground) - Jack Viney

These Arms of Mine (Otis Redding) - Colin Sylvia

Time Is Running Out (Muse) - Ricky Petterd

Bye Bye Bad Man (Stone Roses) Brian Royal (harsh)

Sickfest (Grinspoon) - MFC Midfield

I'm Stranded (The Saints) Mitch Clark

Lips Like Sugar (Echo & The Bunnymen) - Jordan Gysberts according to my mum.

Wake Up (Arcade Fire) - Take your pick

A Change is Gonna Come (Sam Cooke) - SOMEONE. ANYONE. PLEASE

Perhaps I'm just too easily caught up in BS, but I love that Bomber's siren, just as I like the trumpeter that we have.

At the end of the day, it's a gimmick. I don't get to too many games, but I watch virtually all games on TV, and I am sure a majority of our supporters clap along with the trumpeter and cheer at the end. Are you cheering because he has finished? I think not. You can actually hear it on TV, so don't say we don't go along with it!

If we need music playing as the players run out to fire them up, we're screwed. If we were to change from the trumper, the only song I think would be worthy is Highway to Hell (AC/DC). It's a catchy song that you can sing along to, and even opposition supporters will clap to (albeit quietly). It's no different to when you are watching Richmond play - you can't help but say (or yell) "yellow & black" during their theme song (before the game that is - I hate hearing it after a game!).

For shi!ts and giggles, well, just plain tears, the only song that is relevant, and has been for some years is Lost by The Bad Loves. Not a bad song, but I'm sick to freakin death of losing. Some of our players are lost without a trace, I wish someone would hurry the frig up and find them!

I despise anything and everything to do with Essendon.....period

I'm also not a fan of the trumpeter, and the only song I want played when the players run out is It's A Grand Old Flag....call me a traditionalist

EDIT: should not, grand old flag - but not by the trumpeter

Scully seems to be the hardest word- Elton John from the Blue Moves album

"what have I got to do to make you love me"

"what have I got to do to show I care"

"what have I got to do when Sheedy strikes me "

"Scully seems to be the hardest word"

Chorus

"Its sad, so sad"

"Its a sad sad situation"

"And its getting more and more absurd"

"Its sad, so sad"

"Cos Scully seems to be the hardest word"

'Pain in my heart' and more optimistically, 'A change is gonna come', both Otis Redding

As i quoted in my post above, the second one by Sam Cooke. Otis had a crack at it a few years later.

For the only time in his short life, it was inferior to the original.

Haha sorry I missed your post, and I can't say I know a whole lot about that era as it was a bit before my time, just starting to get into Otis now so I have a bit to learn.

"Walk with me in Hell" as the boys march onto the G?

That would be sweeeeet

Not a big LoG fan but thats a great intro, would be epic to see a footy team run out to a song like that

I haven't been here long and I'm sure this one has been dredged up before:

Somewhere in my parents house is the VHS tape of this.

Strangely it brings back good memories of having my picture taken with Robbie Flower at a family day, being there when we won the Night Grand Final and getting into the change rooms after a match (that we won) to have my Demons picture book signed by the players.

Good times.

Love that Intro if it was gonna be Devildriver it would have to be "I could care less" Or for when we play Scully again "Shitlist" would be appropriate. Another Devildriver album coming out soon. MFC could learn a thing or two from them they never stop working their ass off.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
