Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I understand what you're saying but the better option would have been a tackle to force a free or at least a spill and turnover.

Timing screwed JZ on this occasion.

I've just looked at our draw again and I'm happy as long as he gets 2 weeks.

Does Judd make contact (albeit light and accidental) with an umpire at about 0:16?

Much as I would like to find something more tho hang the sneaky sniper on, I think you are nit-picking a bit there :-)

As regards Ziebel though, I reckon at very very least it was very reckless, and with his history he should have been far more cautious. I don't quite see how people can, from this footage, judge where his eyes were facing - maybe their evolution is better than mine.

I di have a beef with the MRP / tribunal / whatever regarding Trengove cf. Corey. The main difference to me is whether Corey's victim kicks 6 goals next week! In fact Corey's looked far more considered.

Completely agree with this. Ziebell could have pinned him with a great tackle knowing that he was going to be late to the contest. Instead he decided to jump with the intent of causing a collision which turned out to be pretty bloody forceful.

Not sure about the 4 weeks but given his form I suggest this was in an effort to influence his options in the future...

Re the decision making process

What would his success been at applying a front on tackle aginst a player at speed?

Arrival was hastened by the leap and it does appear he realised collision was on and braced himself while the exposed Carlton player had no such opportunity.

He did appear to arrive at the ball before the Carlton player who was exposed by looking over his head and had arms out wide

Had Z not jumped impact would not have been as brutal

Had the carlton player braced for a collision impact would not have been brutal or injurious for him

But had bothplayers been open for recipt of ball and for tackle impact for both may have been worse

Would z be instructed to do same again?

would Carlton player be instructed to do same again?

I think the question is why didn't he stay on his feet when there was nothing to be gained from jumping into the contest i.e, marking from a kick.

Agree.

Also Murphy should have got 3 weeks for his hospital pass (Cam Bruce-esque).

That one RF posted of Ziebell and Riewoldt, and now this, I think Ziebell needs to address technique and decision making first and foremost.

The amount of public outcry of JZ's 4 weeks is way OTT IMO.

I think in the end this is worth two weeks. He was very reckless in that he left the ground when really there was no need.

Should've taken the guilty plea and moved on it's near impossible to change the match review panels mind when will teams learn this.

Ziebell should have a think about the way he's playing as with the Reiwoldt hit he leaves the groung to much leaving himself open

to events like this.

Dumb thing to do IMO.

Agreed

His arm was tucked before he left the ground

He didn't need to leave the ground as he wasn't contesting for a mark

His left arm was half heartedly out (as though he had no intention of actually contesting the ball)

The only difference between this and when he hit Riewoldt is that Riewoldt's head was over the ball, but he still collected an unassuming Joseph who had his head turned tracking the ball

Turning the body sideways anticipating impact is the kicker. It's just too pre-meditated.

Poor form JZ. The more I look at this incident and the Reiwoldt one I tend to agree that a 4 week spell is just deserts.

Yet Trengove gets 3 for a legal tackle. Will never let that one go, it's like our measuring stick

Brad Scott was one of few who agreed with Trengove been suspended.

before the north and dees match, Said rules are rules. it's black and white. if you tackle and hit his head, you will be suspended.

While i do have sympathy for Ziebell, rules are rules brad. launched himself and hit joesph head.

This "head is sacrosanct in all circumstances regardless of anything and everything" is part of the war on rugby league.

They want northern mums looking at league and saying "ooh, what a rough game. My boy won't be playing that."

They want the same mums looking at Aussie rules and saying "now that's a nice safe game with no nasty violence."

Twenty years time, all the kids are playing Aussie rules.

That's the vision, anyway.

I understand that AFL is a man's game and not for the faint at heart, but the art of taking a player out is outdated, it's no longer part of the game and never should have been. It's all well and good to see a player from another club crunched and helped off the ground but when it happens to one of your own it's not quite so amusing.

If two guys run at each other and know there's going to be contact, then that's what it's all about, but when some cowardly dog jumps in to an opponent who is unaware of him coming and looking the other way, then who is the more courageous of the two?

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
