has been a real shining light for us since he has come into the side. adds pace and aggresession and also i really thought his disposal on the weekend was top notch! bartram could find it hard to break in next year if nicho keeps developing like this.

keep up the good work nicho!

Agree, he has his detractors but I love the way he plays and if he makes the odd mistake so what, they all do from time to time. Unfortunately, on here, if someone cops a reputation for poor delivery or decision making it sticks, no matter how he plays.

To me his pace & Zip were never in doubt. His zest to take the game on.

I hope he can keep improving.

Well, Bartram won't get back in, as he's also out for the rest of the year.

This boy is damn good - loved him from his game against the Toigs last year. Kicked a couple and really ran through the lines.

I have been really impressed with the aggressive contested work Nicho has been displaying. We all knew he could run, but now we can see that he will fight like an animal to win the contested ball as well. The big question for me now is whether Evans is ever going to get another look in now that Dan is showing so much.

RM, he's been showing that since the start last year @ Casey, playing inside around the stoppages & center bounces. He's always been busy & brave inside the contest.

His run & desire to carry the ball @ pace ina bonus.

Defensively not sure, haven't watched him that hard when they've got the ball.

To me, Evans only looked a poor mans Brock McLean from what I saw.

I have noticed a lot of negativity about this player on this forum from time to time and it's often had me puzzled. It's interesting that since Nicho has returned to the side that we have become a much more competitive outfit. Yes some times his disposal isn't A grade and sometimes he makes the wrong decisions but having watched this kid train a couple a times during pre season you just know those deficiencies will be addressed. He is one of the most professional and through trainers at the club and his work ethic can't be questioned. I love his run and spread and his willingness to take on the opposition. I have great hope for this kid and believe that with serious game time he will become a gem.

Has anyone else noticed the amount of muscle Dan has put on. Last year he was a stick and couldn't break tackles, this year not only has he kept his pace but can also breaks the lines.

Will be a regular fixture for the rest of the year

Welcome on board nicho

My only query on him early on was he does what a lot of quick blokes do, they get the ball, run like lightning and usually run themselves into trouble, but he has realised he does not have to run everytime and is now most of the time making the right decision. Blease still does this occasionaly, but I reckon he too will change.

I think Evans is ok he is in the same vein as Nicholson but not completely; if he can get himself right he will be a good little player for us.

He ll cover bartrams role for the rest of the season

His disposal is definitely improving with each game he plays. I'm a big fan.

And he looks to get the footy, which is so important - he averages 12 uncontested possessions a game. Only Morton, Jones, and Grimes average more.

On a side note - we had 11 players with 10 or more UPs. A good sign. And Jones and Grimes had 20 each. That's Swan-like numbers...

Hopefully not Wayne.

Then open your eyes a bit wider. Has pace to burn something Brock would never be accused of :)

Oh look a player has played 13 games at the top level....and he is improving.....well I'll be gobsquaggled....you don't see that happening very often do you

Fully understand the sarcasm. There is a real rush to judgement at times about young players.

FWIW I reckon he's going fine.

Haha - Does he actually though?

I have mentioned in another post that I have been a critic of Nicho because of his disposal, but his kicking, and in particular his short passing - was first class on Sunday. I hope he can continue this improvement because no-one can criticise his endeavour or gut-running. I have to keep in mind that his good disposal was against GWS who provided little pressure at times. How does he go against Swans, Bombers, WCE, or Pies? These are the real tests of his improvement.

LoL, say what.... :)

I like Nicholson

He has two big attributes IMO

- He gets the ball, that is a good start to being a good player

- He never leaves anything on the park, his is never going to die wondering "if only...."

Play him ever game between now and round 22.
