CEO Position

My Grandpa was Italian. Couldn't read or write but had a chauffeur driven limousine.

And his line of business was .......horticulture? :-) (Sorry, couldn't help myself!)

Bit off topic but ....Back in the 1960s, we were having some concrete put down in our back yard. This Italian guy turned up but he couldnt speak much English. Dad felt for him a bit and gave him the job and found a few more for him. His name was Bruno Grollo.

If the tweet is true, maybe we can merge with north. We can call the team the Melbourne Demons.

Or we could just take there good young players.......

What a day for BF to be down with maintenance if these rumours are true :P

North should have become the GC side. There is no way they have made ANY $$$ from Etihad.

How long can a club keep writing cheques or BPAYing Collo.

It is a disgrace all the local grounds were swallowed up. Shame on you Wayne Jackson.

Talk of North being insolvent seems to be a lot of twaddle given the AFL gaurantees funding to maintain an 18 team comp.

Rumour I heard was Arocca may have lined up a job elsewhere. Split between managament and the FD seems very likely as well given they don't have the funds at their disposal that most otehrs do. Could be their 186 moment has been averted?

I hate to say this but it looks like the Kangaroos are between Arocca and a hard place.

Surely a lifetime ban is a light punishment for this statement?

As long as the team are called the Melbourne Demons, they play in navy blue with a red yoke and red socks and sing 'It's a Grand Old Flag' I'm fine with it.

more the case that Arocca just quit...

As for insolvency, the AFL would step in before any club got to that stage.

Maybe. Might be a good chance to boot them full time to Tassie.

Does this come with a "I believe in Cam" tag?

Should it?

The CEO is a position decided by the board, I hope they make the right one for the club come October. If it's time to go, it's time to go. My position is different to others who believe that Cam is a Rasputin like figure who manipulates all involved at the club, and believes Garry Lyon is a puppet of Cam's.

You've calmed down quite a bit since Saturday night - even quite readable.

Good to see.

But, ADC, you have to let things go. My dastardly act of believeing the word of a simpleton has been done to death. Any zombification of it doesn't reflect on me.

My spin on the situation of 186 last year and the supposed rift between CEO and FD is that perhaps it was because CS could see that the standards weren't high enough and that if things kept going along as they were then we would never have any sustained success.

The whole situation was about to unravel for him as allegations of interference surfaced when we got smacked by Geelong. The shattering result caused the board to have a good re-think about the situation and realise that CS was right on the money and the Coach and FD needed to be rebuilt from the ground. The direction of the search for a new coach that could re-create our culture and instill a much higher standard of professionalism was driven by the CEO. And we get Neeld, Misson and Craig as a result.

As I said thats my own un-informed personal spin on the matter.

That is the way i see it to S.T.

Cam could see that we were heading backwards. Could he have done it better? Who knows from out here.

But if it is a matter of sitting certain people down at a table to sort out all levels. Do it.

If it has not been done already.

This could be a fairly accurate assessment in my opinion .

I think CS is working hard to create te culture of excellence we need.

The players certainly shouldn't have known any of the internal rumblings at the time .Whoever leaked the information abot a rift to the players effectively gave them an excuse to not turn up that day .Sounds like it was Bails to me but we are onl guessing .

Maybe Green can shed some light on it next year as a journo/Commentator .

The main thing is that the healing began last week .

Call me stupid/ignorant/naive but ummm, what's wrong with the CEO we have?

Exactly correct. I am 100% behind CS.

I doubt Bails would knife his own career, but like i said, from here who knows.

Interesting imagery.......

All of the best writers of fiction rely on good imagery ;-)

This Arocca fellow reminds me of the type that might have run a flower shop in old time Chicago and hung around with unemployed violinists. Whether good or bad for us I dunno.

Maybe he should be @ Carltank? They have brown paper over there... & he can join the cloke & dagger dots together.

No to Arocca for me. If we have to change CEO's, and I hope we don't, we go after the best, not another bloke working for a club that is behind even MFC in structure, finances and growth.

Hmmm . . .

@Atkinson_Tom: Strong rumours Kangaroos to be revealed Insolvent or very close to it tomorrow #afl

From twitter.

Jamb that up your clacker David King!!!

That's my take on it MB38. If we need to replace anyone from here on in, we start with the best and work our way back from there.

Was interesting to read an article in The Age about strong rumours circling regarding Ben Buckley going to North. Bloody hell, I only suggested him about 2 weeks ago on here as a potential replacement should such a position be available at the MFC. Good to see Brayshaw reads Demonland!

Buckley has denied that.

He will be going from basket case to basket case if that were the case...

Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story RP.

Are you calling the A LEague a basket case?

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
