Changes v Pies

Recommended Posts

We do have a 9 day break between games which may help young Sammy.

If fit Chippa will definately come back in. Probably for Sellar (who may well be a fraction stiff) but in a Dunn v Sellar argument, Dunn has more versatility.

It will definately be interesting to see what happens.

Assuming Frawley, Bail fit and Blease injured

Out: Green, Blease

In: Frawley. Bail

People will call for Dunn to be dropped but 7 tackles and 7 touches in less than a half over 2 tackles and 10 touches in a full game warrants him being played.

There is no possible way on that performance that Sellar will be dropped.

Said on the radio Frawley may be out for a bit longer.............having said that, I always think theres a lot in a theory which states....If it aint broke, dont fix it!

I'd love a "no change" after that performance but Chip comes in for some poor bugger.

Sammy has pulled up well at recovery this morning according to Grimes.

Sellar will stay in with Cloke and Dawes as match ups. Cloke is just a bit big for Riv and has given him grief in the past.

You're right about Dunn "Big Red", he worked really hard and is playing for his career now, unfortunately Greeny is probably past it, not through lack of effort but he is really struggling and Garland may well be the nail.

Chip has to come in, no questions there, but it would be stiff on Dunn and Sellar.

Id choose Dunn out only if it means Sellar doesnt go forward

Sellar's a tough one. He has size and moves pretty well but his hands are just terrible. He drops so many easy marks. I think we need his size this week but I reckon his selection will always be a horses for courses type affair.

I reckon they should all be horses for courses

Use the whole squad.

The coaches will know who need to continue to be played and who needs to be refreshed.

We should be pleased that we have alternatives in the successful Casey side who may benefit from an upgrade while some may need to be rested However that said I'm also the "aint broke dont fix" type myself

Joel Macdonald.

You watched the game yet Nasher? Joel was fantastic, should not be dropped.

Chip is the only one really needing to come in, so you'd choose from Morton, Green, or Dunn (who'd be unlucky, but if you had to pick it'd be out of those three)

Frawley has to come back in regardless of who played well. Bartram is also the kind of player Neeld likes so he might be considered.

Lynden Dunn could not be dropped on last night's performance. He stood up in tackles and did a lot of really hard work. He might be on the edge of the team and always hovering between Casey, the bench or the sub. Could be the one to miss out because Sellar required for Dawes.

Blease should recover in time.

Sellar also could not be dropped on last night's performance.

IN: Frawley, Bartram (possibly)

OUT: J MacDonad, ???

It will be tough at the selection table this week.

Sellar will need to stay in to take Cloke and / or Dawes, even if Chip is back. No question there Did well last night.

Green did little. Certainly Dunn did more.

Only potential in is Frawley. Bail is stiff, but we ought to reward the players who won us the game last night.

I don't think Frawley for Blease, if Blease is injured, is a good swap, so we'd have to make a second change for that.

In: Frawley, Bail (only if Blease is injured)

Out: Dunn, Blease (only if injured)

I know Dunn had 7 tackles in his half. But everyone was tackling last night; it was the style of game. I also don't think there is any future in Dunn at all. He isn't really playing any specific role either. Green wasn't great last night but if I had to pick which one I think could actually influence a game, I'd pick Green, and on that basis, Dunn makes way.

MacDonald was good last night, aggressive and courageous. He stays. Sellar cannot be dropped on the back of that performance. Morton might be on the cusp, but I'd drop Dunn first; Morton's run is useful.

I agree that Green and Dunn in particular were probably "worse" (relatively) speaking, but on a like-for-like basis, which I did say in my post, Macdonald is an inferior player to Frawley and how Green or Dunn went is irrelevant to that end. He might have played completely out of his skin and earned three Brownlow votes, but that wouldn't change my view that he is just filler and will lose his place when the better player competing for his spot comes back in. It's not because I don't like him or because I didn't think he wasn't good - he was - it's just the tough reality of being a middle of the road player.

Fair enough, totally understand your point and reasoning. I'd just like to see guys rewarded for good games, if we're going to build a list that's competitive for spots then we should be doing that. Joel had a better game than normal, may not be able to replicate it, but I just reckon his form in that game earns him a spot for one more week.

I don't think Dunn is in any way a great player, but he does bring

a type of aggression to our play, imagined or real,

and we usually play better and more determined when he is in the side.

He should stay in...

Go DEES give 'em HELL !!!

aint a win wonderful ! especially over the Bummers,,

Likewise, and to be truthful I'd be happy with either outcome. These decisions sure beat the heck out of which deck chairs to shuffle after another bad loss.

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res
