THE CONTRACTS THREAD [with updates]

Jetta has not really set the world on fire, he would have to be being considered to be dropped. and macdonald while serviceable could be redundant with Gillies arriving. I would think how they conduct themselves at training in the next week or so will have a big bearing on their future.

I think Jetta will remain on list as he is exactly what Neeld likes, a player who is ferocious and has a go. I really like the attributes MN is looking for in players, HE WILL MAKE US COMPETITIVE eventually.

Surely Davis is a dead man walking.

That would give us 4 vacancies on the list, which, if I'm right rpfc, will be the end of it? As in, we'll re-sign Bartram and Jetta because we can, and we'll take four free spots into the drafting period?

That would enable ND4, ND49, ND53, and ND70 to be taken.

I guess the question to ask is: would Pick 70 be a better bet than Davis?

or would you scrap p70 and take someone in the PSD ? Just putting it out there. Then a possible recycled player is the competition for Davis.

Neeld is probably tipping the scales towards here and now, that wouldnt favour Davis id suggest

All I have seen of Davis was in the NAB Cup last year, but to me he looked like a good prospect. As has been mentioned, with the addition of Gillies and Pedersen, and the re-signing of Dunn and Sellar, we have an abundance of talls in the backline now. I can't see Davis getting a game in our team.

So, I think it's likely that Davis will be de-listed and we use either pick 70 or a pick in the PSD on somebody that fits the bill of what we need (midfielders or small forwards).

This is really interesting - assuming Davis goes, and Dunn, Sellar and MacDonald got 1 year, you'd have to think all 3 are on the block next year.

Who else goes, apart from Davey? I can't see us wanting to get rid of any of the others, unless Rodan is a complete bust.

On current numbers, you'd also have to think one of Jetta and Barty are in trouble this year.

Oh well, maybe we won't have any draft picks anyway, so it won't matter...

Updated.

Jetta and Davis yet to be re-signed.

12 off the PL so far and with the VL being abolished we will have 13 new players on the PL in 2013.

That is 1/3 of the list.

Would have to be unprecendented.

That is a hell of a lot of turn over.

Add in Sheehan, Williams and Lawrence. 15 players!!!

And still with a possible one or even two more - Davis and Jetta.

It's little wonder then that there's has been an ex-player revolt of sorts, with a few sulky rats trying to destabilize the club from the shadows.

Purging a third of the list - including a few sacred cows - was always bound to ruffle a few feathers.

Had to be done.

Finishing effectively last with one real win suggests at least a third of the list were not good enough.

But you are correct 1/3 is a large number of changes.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
