Get ready for the pain this week v Ess.

Essendon were pretty ordinary with there win over GWS and Hirdy and coaching staff were not happy about it. Hirdy was pretty [censored] off at the insipid effort some of his players brought to the game.

I hate to say it but we might be facing Essendon this week that will have has a rocket shoved fair up em.

If they play anywhere near their potential it could be another 20 goal flogging. Lets hope their injuries help us out.

This one is probably our best chances of pinching a win before the bye. Bombers are due for a loss and I'd like to think the players would have some confidence knowing we beat them the last two time we met. Coming off a game against GWS doesn't help them either and we will rightly be given no chance.

But haven't said that. Pretty much agree with your prediction.

Pain? I'm going to the game with 2 essendon "mates."

I use inverted commas because when they go to the footy they turn into arrogant w#nkers win, lose or draw. So I have 2 hours of listening to " oh how bad are melbourne, you'll fold in 3 years... remember 2000... when was you're last premiership again.... I can't wait to suck hirdy's di(k." And so on and so forth. If we are to win only one game this year, please let it be this game.

i had a read on bomberblitz.

Their changes for this week

Outs: Bruises

I very much dislike Essendon. Im not sure im going to able to handle this game sober...

Normally a 2 hour drive each way to see the dees is nothing.

This week, with soccer at 8am Sunday (don't ask).... Im really wondering if it's worth it just to see us get smashed...

We'll get smashed. They have everything we don't have. Strong, hard-bodied, skillful mids, and 22 players who are ferocious and fight at every contest. And they run games out.

That doesn't mean we can't at least try our best and be competitive early, or even late, or just at some point. I hope.

Essendon supporters make me laugh. They're arrogant to hell but they can afford to be. Great club with plenty of success.

Probably another 5-10 goal loss. 70 points, maybe.

if we get a win this year i want this one! essendon and collingwood are hard too split with which i hate more but my essendon mates are starting to get a little chirpier and i would love us too just put them back in there box!! im a realistic though i dont think it'll happen.... :(

I chuckled out loud. I hate the Bombers, but unfortunately, BomberBlitz has pretty much hit the nail on the head with this one (bar a miracle/debacle I dare not to hope for). I can't see them coming into this game complacent in any way after the weekend just gone. Grrrr, the arrongant bastards make me so angry!

Ther is no way in a million years we wil get closer than 75 points against Essendon and expect the same against Collingwood, we are the worst l have ever seen in 50 years of supporting them, an absolute rabble, will not win one game this year, even if we get to 12 points down we will still get mashed in the last quarter.

The pain this week ????

Well buckle up for Queens Birthday !

Probably THE two form teams of the comp.

I'd expect our percentage to drop another 5-10%.

Easenscum can kick 10 in a quarter. We can't manage 10 in a game ( in fact it nearly takes us two games!)

We might drag them back to our level for a while, but to win, we have to kick a score. Unfortunately for all of their effort, the Dees have no idea how to do this at the moment.

I would love to beat them, but then I wake up.

Margin won't be as big as some are suggesting. I saw a few things starting to click against Carlton. Subtle things. Things that will give the players confidence.

Sooner or later, a light is going to go iff in the minds of our boys and they're going to have an "I'm gonna kill the bear" moment.

Could it be this week? There's something brewing at Demonland.

Does our previous good record against them the last couple of years count for anything?

Na who am i kidding...100 points plus

When I have time to watch games at the moment, which is rare, I ignore the score and focus on which players are developing. In essence I have my own scoreboard – not that it is any better reading than the actual scoreboard some weeks.

I've had my clerk's visor on, assiduously poring through mountains of records looking for an omen against this particular enemy.

Eureka! Round 7 1966 - a winless Melbourne shows a bit for the first time for 3 quarters against C'wood in round 6 at Vic Park before getting blown away in final quarter. Plays reigning premier Essendon next week and wipes the floor with them.

Follow the form!

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
