Changes against the cats next week

Featured Replies

In: Clark, Frawley

Out: Watts, Tapscott

I am a watts fan but he hasn't been up to it in the last two weeks (terrible second half against the dogs and terrible game against the saints). He needs a solid 4 quarter effort at Casey. Similar with Tapscott.

I'd line them up:

B: Bartram, Frawley, Garland

HB: Macdonald, McDonald, Rivers

C: Sylvia, Moloney, Bate

HF: Jones, Clark, Davey

F: Howe, Dunn, Trengove

Foll: Jamar, Grimes, McKenzie

I/C: Morton, Bail, Sellar, Magner

Let's hope Petterd puts his hand up today.

Sellar provided a contest. Next week we CANNOT have Rivers playing on bloke twice his weight like Hawkins. Bailey would do it basically due to having no other options. We will need bigger bodies next week.

INS- Frawley, Clark, Petterd

OUTS- Dunn, Davey, Watts

I'm amazed at the number of people dropping Watts. Proven not to be good in the wet, he'll bounce back next week.

Out: Sellar, Tappy, Dunn

In: Clark, Frawley, Jurrahcane :)

I'd pick Couch as well but I'm tired of saying that every week with no result.

This will be amended after hearing how Casey perform but I would go with minimal change. Our forward structure looked better with 1 big tall and will look better next week when that big tall is Clark. Geelong being a smaller ground Jamar should ruck most of game and play Sellar back on Hawkins and throw him in for bursts if required. Those who want Watts dropped are ignoring the conditions and his improved performances in the earlier rounds.

In: Clark, Frawley

Out: Dunn, MacDonald

By no means am I standing up for Watts but if you had a quick glance down the other end you would have seen possibly the best key forward of his generation get toweled up by a hard running kid who has played less than 10 games. Surely everyone can see the congestion and conditions played a major part in this and most likely impacted on Watts' game.

In saying that I would still like Watts to hit the contest harder. He isn't a stick figure anymore and needs to realise that.

Ins: Clark, Frawley, Blease (assuming he is best on today with 5 goals 12 tackles and 37 possessions.... in which case I would drop Moloney)

Outs: MacDonald, Dunn

Dropping Watts to Casey after one bad game adds absolutely nothing to his development. Why do you think Geelong continued with Hawkins all those years?

He must continue to play AFL.

People want poor performing Melbourne players to be replaced by players dropped to Casey who have not shown anything special.

Unfortunately for Martin, Fitzpatrick and Petterd they have not demanded a call up from Casey. Couch has been unlucky. At the Casey level all MFC listed players should start week in week out to demand a call up.

I am not sure rewarding Martin, Fitzpatrick & Petterd not on form but on individuals having a bad games does us any value.

Secondly the changes need to be for like or based on next weeks opposition.

There is proof though that persisting with players like Morton, Davey & Tom Mac has seen them find a little form and has helped the team structures develop..

This thread every week is a litany of players " I don't like".

MacDonald did the job this week and will stay.

Dunn was pulled for going inboard against the gameplan... What neeld does will tell us if he is playing just a defensive role.

Watts for mine was played in the wrong position he does well on the wing.

McDonald is developing well and who knows may end up at chf next season.

Sellar is at risk if Martin plays well.

Davey has been much improved the last few weeks, and I would be disappointed and surprised to see him out. I'd like to see **Petterd** given a run, but I think that Watts will stay in meaning there is no room for him in the side. **Clark** will definitely be in provided he's fit, as will Frawley.

I'd go:

IN: Clark, Frawley

Out: Sellar, Dunn

Ins: If Frawley has a Calf strain IMO he'll miss again, if he was just off colour, he'd come back in, maybe for (Garland if Injured) or Macdonald... Clarke, we know his situation & should come straight in, maybe for Watts, or Sellar?

OUT: Tappy (Fitness or lack of) & Dunn (Clark is better than Dunn).

IN: Clark and Frawley.

IN: Clark, Frawley, Petterd

OUT: Dunn, MacDonald, Tapscott

Petterd to play Dunn's defensive forward role, Tappy needs some miles in his legs at Casey and MacDonald although playing ok needs to come out to fit Chip in.

FB: McDonald, Frawley, Bartram

HB: Garland, Rivers, Grimes

C:Trengove, McKenzie, Bate

HF: Watts, Sellar, Petterd

FF: Howe, Clark, Davey

FOLL: Jamar, Moloney, Magner

INT: Bail, Jones, Sylvia, Morton

EMERG: Fitzpatrick, MacDonald, Tapscott

Because apparently one poor game gets you shunted.......

Not shunted but refreshed

If he is needed for structure or game plan against opposition it may be OK to let him watch Hawkins from the stands.

Maybe Couch for Trengove and let Trenners freshen up at Casey

Agree with every word of this. I'd also add that I was happy enough with the games of Dunn and Macdonald this week and they're only in my out list because I believe that on both ability and balance, they're the 21st and 22nd best players in our side, and Clark and Frawley obviously pick themselves.

I wouldn't support any shuffling of fringe players this week after that effort - swapping Dunn or Watts or Tapscott for Petterd or Couch seems like change for the sake of change to me.

Outside of the ins of Clark and Frawley:

I would like to see Petterd in for Davey. We have had great service from Davey over the years however I believe his time at MFC is just about up.He is no longer feared by oppositions and seems to have lost more than a yard of pace.

Also I would like to see Fitzpatrick in for Sellar just to see what he as got at senior level and he would also be capable of giving Jamar a chop out in the ruck.

Yes I thought Dunn and Macdonald were ok as well but someone must make way for necessary ins and they are definitely filler until other players are ready.

Come on guys, you can't just drop players who frustrate you or who you don't like much, nor players who have played 1 or even 2 bad games.

Sellar. No he didn't have a good game but on a wet night he gave a constant physical target in our forward 50 and he ensured St. Kilda didn't dominate the stoppages when Jamar was resting. If we do not have anyone better he stays, but he is likely to make way for Clark.

Dunn's centring the ball that led to a Saints goal will really annoy Neeld, and he might get dropped for what looks like a clear breach of a team rule. But Dunn has done a great job on Murphy last week and Fisher last night and is playing his role well.

Watts, Trengove and Tappy will benefit little from being dropped. They need to play continuous games with each other over a number of seasons.

IN: Frawley, Clark,

OUT: J MacDonald, Sellar

Also, we might need Blease's pace for players like the Cats Christensen, Stokes, and even Wojinski played well in the reserves. Blease does not deserve a place out of form but we need more pace than just Bail and Morton. Unsure who to drop for him though.

I don't think pace is too much of an issue for us - it's more fitness to keep running.

And Blease doesn't seem to have that yet.

Joel Mac = definition of grunt type player. Playing cats at the cattery - grunt stays. I wouldn't be dropping anyone who displays any grunt for the trip to Geelong, maybe even add Couch to the ins to beef up grunt factor.

Frawley, Clark, couch in.

Tappy (short of fitness and will be sore from the corkie), Morton ( yes he was better but not at the cattery) toss up for a tall to come out (sellar, watts or maybe even Garland for balance)

Drop Morton??

You're having a laugh.

And couch has an injury cloud over him after a scare today in the Casey match.

Morton ( yes he was better but not at the cattery)

Wow..... I mean wow...... I really don't know what to say about that.

Out- Davey, Sellar, Dunn

In- Blease, Frawley, Clark

Frawley and Clark were always going to be ins. We need a small who is going to compete and compete for his own ball.
