Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Yep, let's back neeld blindly for another 4 years. Yep, it's always the players fault.

Neeld hasn't got what it takes. His face squirms under pressure. He is a spiritual lightweight.

Viney as caretaker.

We need a proven premiership coach.

Let's go for malthouse or Roos.

Neeld is a bitter pill.

Yeah, good idea.

Let's change coaches - AGAIN.

Come on, use your fu%&ing brain.

The common thread in being an exceptionally poor side is not the coaching dept.

Malthouse on 3AW - time to do the things the players enjoy and focus on the things they do well - further criticism and negativity will be destructive. Then when they've got some confidence, go to the things that aren't well done.

I'm a Neeld fan - I hope Craig is in his ear supporting him and giving him this sort of advice.

I wrote something similar in April.

It has come to the point where for the good of the club and the supporters, the team needs to be playing to their strengths, not just what the latest trend in the game is.

Nothing will fix this. Te club itself is just a rabble. If players aren't prepared to execute, says a lot about the club, more than the playing group and coaching staff. A good culture makes players, even bad ones, WANT to play for the guernsey.

The problem is clearly many of the players dont enjoy playing for the demons.

No, they don't enjoy playing defensively and sticking to structures.

And it's only some of them, but still too many, and it's letting the rest of the team down.

Like the things they were doing well when we lost by 186? And, let's not forget, every game since except an unconvincing win to GC.

!!! It says nothing about the club, but says everything about the players. Or enough of them for the damage to be done.

I know what you mean. Bruise free footy is not an appealing prospect to me. But that's how bad MM (a mate of Neild) thinks things are!

Mark Neeld and the coaching group are in the best position to assess the performance of the talent on our list and to make decisions in relation to thier development. ....

Along similar lines, revealing post from another site, by a non-Dees supporter:

"I know one of the assistant coaches at the club. Said Neeld is still flogging the players like its pre-season to try and teach them how to train. Blokes like Watts who have been in a system for 4 years apparently still trains with no intensity, under Bailey him, and many other were always going to get games.

Some of the players have reacted badly to this (not hard to tell which ones), and he admitted they'll be 0-12 most likely, but second half of the year they'll ease the work load and (I think) win a few games.

This year is about getting rid of all the bad habits the young blokes gained over their time with Bailey, and pretty much re-teaching everything. One of those "take one step back to take two steps forward" things. Neeld knows what he's doing."

Just like the Misson article on the club website and other things I've heard.

We are flogging them, so we'll be up to standard later this season, rather than having to wait til next year.

We're suffering now to accelerate our development.

Jose, this is scary, but we're on the same page for the second time in 48 hours.

Training time trials don't lie. The coaching team were shocked by the times the players were registering and kept it in - house.

The players need to harden up.

Had a mate talk to a couple of senior players last week. The relationship between Neeld and the players doesn't seem rosy at the moment. Wether or not its Neelds fault or the fact that Melbourne players aren't' used to working so hard who knows. Either way, you can tell from the way we are playing there are some fairly large issues showing on the field. Theres the aspect of playing for your coach. I haven't seen them do it once this year. As terrible at times we were under Bailey he managed to most of the times get a response from the players the following week. We haven't seen this either this year.

I think it is obvious that some players are struggling under Neeld. And some of that goes to the feet of Neeld.

But the bad habits that some players got into in the last few years have to be dealt with.

And so we march on.

'We happy few...'

I've broken the list into three groups. Neeld's boys, unsure and not Neeld's Boys.

In my opinion Neeld needs to convert them. Meaning make them perform to potential. He can't afford to play them all year. He shoudl go down with his boys. otherwise they should go.

Neelds Boys

Jones

Clark

Magner

Howe

Watts

Jamar

Grimes

Trengove

Bartram

Tyan

Sellar

McDonald

I don't agree with this.

Morton was very happy to be given a fresh start under Neeld after Bailey 'tea-bagged' him in and out of the team.

He is inconsistent but showing some good signs.

To clarify ass i heard it again, Neeld says

something more like "we arnt interested in talent, talent will only get you so far in this game, we want people that want to play ect"

Barassi (anyone believe in him?) said words to the effect that he disdains players who have talent and don't put in the effort. I guess he wouldn't have a lot of time for #12 then, though Neeld surprisingly still seems supportive.

I think at this stage he is giving everyone a chance when they are fit, how much further these players go will be interesting as a numner of them seem to be sinking rather than swimming atm, can neeld help them swim or not?

Neeld needs to go and speak to each player individually, and ask them "will you play to my game plan". Watch their eyes, and if they equivocate even slightly, give them a map to Berwick-Cranbourne Road and tell them not to come back until they are prepared to do so without question.

One weak link will bring the whole team down.

They mightn't like it, we mightn't like it, but HE is the coach. Like it or lump it.

Insubordination cannot be tolerated - bring in the firing squad!!

MFC has been too soft for too long.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
