Remember when you could take sandwiches to the footy?

Remember when the ground had green grass instead of advertising all over it .

Kids could sell peanuts or lollies that were just plain peanuts or lollies?

The announcements at quarter time were for cars blocking other cars or lost kids?

I'm just over the Coke Betair NAB Carlton United Hungry Jacks GWS ,Etihad ,McDonalds ,KFC crap and all the inflation that goes with the whole "EVENT" and it's management .Fans from all clubs should fight this crap and refuse the AFLS food ,music , Venues ,sponsors ,"entertainment" ,bad TV deals ,new bogus clubs and the constant shiiling of [censored].

It is played in the MCC reserve just as loudly too, so no one is spared. Its great to chat about how good or bad a quarter has just been and with BARNESY pumping at 11 it is bloody hard to hear anything. The only song i want to hear at the ground is Grand Old Flag.

and they go 'at the end of the first quarter its the dees trailing the pies by 15 points' over the loudspeaker.. yeah there's a couple of scoreboards dhead.. I gues the announcement is for all the blind dudes that come to watch a game of footy

i can handle the scores and goal kickers, even the SEN guys warbling on, that's footy. But the loud music has no relevance. Give the crowd a chance to take a breath.

I was at a Final in 2002 or 2003 involving Collingwood and saw 2 Pie fans rip a speaker out of the wall in the standing room area ! No more noise !

Maybe we could recruit some of the filth to do our dirty work ?

Wouldn't "Aussie Rules Supporters Entity" be a better title - the acronym works better.

Edit: curse you Biffen... you beat me to it! :-)

That stupid bouncing rice cracker!!

To this day I've never bought a packet of these things . Because of the incessant advertising of the product at the G during 1 Grand Final .

Sometimes advertising doesn't work .

Just on the noise at the G - there are spots which are "quieter" than others . Standing room isn't too bad and the bars are ok as well .

Just means you have to leave your seat a bit but it's better than being treated like a "subject" in "1984" or the like !

Well I guess that they think Pies fans cannot subtract 30 from 45, or maybe even read the names on the scoreboard ?

But yes, bloody annoying, and pointless.

So true.

2 words. Frank Walker.

Ha ha ha ! Sometimes it comes down to principles and for some of us we take a stand . More people should do it but alas ...............

It's all part of our easy going nature (generally) . I'm not sure that the sports fans in the U.S or the U.K would put up with the ear piercing adverts but I may be wrong .

Next season will be interesting. There are a lot of cynical footy fans out there, not just on here. The game will survive but i do wonder about the broadcasting deal. Who has time to watch 9 games a week!!!

Big Risk.

Hmmm, ex Collingwood security guard Toby Mitchell might be looking for a job when he recovers....

I would be on the phone to Sheahan today if i was the MFC with a top membership offer. He is an "elapsed" Demon with contacts in high places. Useful.

No. 1 Ticket Holder?

The fact that his name springs so readily to your mind shows that unfortunately it does.

And you'll pay $1250 to go to a game of footy.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
