You can take your name off the register, but you are automatically on there for two years post deletion.

Apart from some early excitement, and brilliance, he hasn't really delivered much, and certainly no consistency.

I can't see this one biting us in the future.

The fact that Aussie missed his appointment with the specialist in Melbourne doesn't mean he's not having his ankle looked at by someone up in the Top End or that he will be deterred from playing football.

In fact, he is expected to resume his NTFL career with the Tiwi Bombers against unbeaten ladder leader Nightcliff on Saturday, 10 December @ 4pm.

Of course, it's a total co-incidence that the Preseason and Rookie Draft is held just 3 days after that!

He's had more than enough chances from the MFC and I hope (and expect) we don't touch him again.

He's overrated by Melbourne supporters.

One would have to presume that he has sat down and had "the chat" with the coaching staff (presuming that they could actually contact him; and if they couldn't, end of conversation) and the necessary 100 pc commitment wasn't found, or he wouldn't have been delisted in the first place.

It has been stated that they tried to contact him and couldn't.

No-one else seems to want him either.

Wonna really didn't show anywhere near enough to indicate that he was good enough to consistently perform for Melbourne. On his day a great crumber but certainly those days were a fair way back and probably not that often. I do wish him the best though as I think we all do.

A regular spot in our forward line beckoned, but he needed the commitment to make it his own.

I liked his game and his nature. But am saddened that he couldn't find the taste for the disciplines to go on.

I hope he succeeds in what ever he chooses.

Austin is in line to return for the Tiwi Bombers for their blockbuster clash against Nightcliff tomorrow after he was named on an extended Tiwi bench.- Wonaeamirri back in the Tiwi fold.

Hopefully, our spies in the Top End will keep us informed about how he goes and whether Waylen Manson and Brendan Fevola appear for Waratahs in their game.

I wish Aussie good luck although I reckon he's left his run to the AFL too late if indeed that's where he wants play in the future.

If there's one thing we've learned this year it's that players can no longer take places on AFL lists for granted. Leon Davis makes All Australian but when he walked out of Collingwood he waved goodbye to his AFL career. Nobody wanted Fevola or Lovett and at the other end of the scale there were some interesting 18 year olds who couldn't get selected.

I fear that if Austin wants a second chance he's going to have to work hard to get it.

Apparently Austin's journey has been conflicted between his obligations to the MFC - which we all understand - and his cultural obligations in the Tiwi Islands following the death of his father (whose name cannot be spoken in that culture ) which most of us do not understand at all.

Austin has stayed in Melbourne with a friend who encouraged him to come to this city and who has spent time in his home environment and understands that Aussie had obligations to go through a mourning process that goes over 12 months and this friend is saying that Aussie wants to find a path back to footy here if he can.

These cultural obligations are every bit as real as the imperatives under which we operate - if not much more so

Well, that I didn't know, & I can well understand now.

Maybe, just maybe,, in a year or 2, IF he keeps himself clean & Keen, then there maybe a backdoor ajar.

Once Austin has gone home there is a close to zero chance I see him putting his mind into footy.

He has made it quite clear in his actions he is more comfortable with going home and settling back into the community.

Absolutely nothing wrong with it; it's been a tough few years and each is able to make their own life decisions but that is how I read the situation.
