Did you renew for 2012 before Christmas ? If so, I'd contact the club. Contact the club anyway.

Bit of a concern we've slipped behind last years tally. I can't see us pushing 40,000 til we start performing on the park.

Given the numbers J-Riv and the apparent ~2000 behind, whilst I'm more often an optimist, I think unless there is a momentum swing such as a string of good wins, a membership push, and a massive uptake in membership - 35,000 looks about it at this stage.

Hate to agree with you ...... maybe 37500 .... but 40000 might be stretching it.

We have a relatively old group of members. People are going to keep dropping off the end so its going to take a fundamental lift in our on-field performance to achieve consistent growth.

We really need that big FOJ sponsor to kick along our revenues

I struggle with 35000.

We are well behind last year and I cannot see it being made up.

We need to win on Saturday and win the first 4 games to make last years tally let alone 40 000

Our first half draw is a lot tougher than the second half so our win loss ratio ( when memberships have to be sold ) will be poor.

That figure is a pipe dream unless we start performing on the field.

I good 2012 IMO 12+ wins would give the wavering supporters hope of a good year in 2013

My prediction 32496.

PS we should run a contest like last year to pick the final number.

The Club is to blame for this stall in Memberships.

A week or two ago I posted here in regards to doing my bit for the club. (See my post earlier).

I contacted the club in regards to voluntarily going out of my way in my time off to go out and chase new members which we have potential for here in Darwin. I also mentioned to them that quite a few members didn't receive membership renewal packs this year and suggested that this figure could very well be in the thousands. The club thanked me for my support and thought it was a great idea for me to chase new members up here and they would get back to me with an action plan.

A couple of weeks have past and numerous emails to the club (approx 5) and still they wont get back to me!!

There is only so much I will take and to be honest the novelty has now worn off and I have no desire to help out as the club has made no intention to contact me back. Its this type of attitude from the club that will drive members away and fail to attract fresh blood.

Sorry to be negative but this is where our club is at and its a long road ahead.

Cheers.

The membership tally has been making me nervous, so I've just signed up my niece & nephew. I've a sneaking suspicion that I'll get in trouble for it, my brother and sister in law are Tigers and Pies fans. But they're not members so hopefully their lack of effort will be to my advantage. Add in a Birthday Club each, how could I go wrong?

My Dad's getting married next month. I wonder if I should sign up his fiance?

I think it will lead to an increase in numbers, and I wouldn't be surprised if some non-MFC supporters buy a membership even.

I know that it is far too early, but club must sell Jimmy's message. Its what he would have wanted. Its his dream to see us strong. I will ring every non member and/or members who have not renewed after Tuesday next week for free. After work. I wanna see us achieve the 40k.

Still much too early, but i agree that the club needs to get on the front foot and drive Jim's endeavour hard. Wait a week for the dust to settle, then strongly campaign that it was Jimmy who wanted to see us reach 40,000 members. Honour him by helping the MFC reach 40,000. If you haven't signed up, then now is the time to do so.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
