The Brendan Fevola Thread

I think Fevola would do as good a job as Jack Watts has done on our new sponsors adds. Yu never know -the sponsor may offer him a great incentive re cheaper energy for kicking more than 50 goals. Now let's be realistic.

5 clubs have now stated NO to Fevola today- North, Ess, St K, W.B, & Carlton. This leaves- Hawks, (extremely doubtful after getting Gunston)-Collingwood- good security.. Richmond and us.. To whom needs him most- US. I think it is time for you to wake up --'why you little'.

I am wide awake...don't worry, and have worked with addicts....AFL 24/7 is not the place for Brendan....it almost killed him once....

You will not change my mind

Moving to Darwin in November, I was checking out the NT News site, and was interested to find out that Fevola is playing in the NTFL 2011/2012 Season.

Geez, I wish he'd stop stalking me. I was going to go for Waratah, too!

It would be the recruit of the century if we obtained him NOT stupidity as you put in. You are just being narrow minded. He has not misbehaved since joining Casey. Still would be at least a 50 goal kicker and this would basically make us a finals team.

Just imagine a forward team of:

Sylvia Watts Jurrah

Davey Fevola Gawn(interchanging with Jamar)

I say- WOW.

Well said but WOW where's HOWE???

I can't find anything on this? Where did you hear/read these clubs are not interested? I for one would be wrapped to have him in our forward line next year, been too long since we've have a dominant big man.

I don't doubt Fev's ability but our forwards need to play on the best defenders in order to get better. Fev is a short term solution that will take opportunities away from other, more important players who will be there when our time comes. If we were to recruit mature age players I'd like to see guys with leadership skills to nurture the younger blokes.

All the article says "Melbourne denied interest", if we were interested I doubt we would come out and openly say we were. Things seem to be pretty tight around the club at the moment, they don't like there plans getting out in the media.

Just take the bloody risk Melbourne we have been [censored] for 48 years now, get him if it doesn't work out it doesn't work out, I'm not going to lose sleep over it, footballers are footballers not doctors, 2 3rds

Of the players are proabably peanuts as well, there just lucky there talented or they'd be doing a trade right now, just look at heath shaw the blokes mucked up a few times and is a pest around the club, but u know why he's still there coz he can play!!!

EDIT: P.s was in Thailand with a few of the boys and while I was trying my best not to talk footy with them as I was just happy have a few frothies with them and I'm sure they didn't want to talk about footy but two of them said they would love for him to be playing as he's a champion bloke and leads the Casey boys really well, has time for everyone there who wants advice!!!

I really wasn't going to open this thread because I had a feeling what was inside.

I think Fev made great strides in his recovery both on and off the field in 2011 and he was very good for the Casey Scorpions. He really did it hard at times when opposition supporters struck hard from their safe havens behind the fence making nasty, sometimes highly personal and uncalled for comments that would have hurt at times when he was down on form.

I suppose that's what you call doing penance for the sins of his past. Some wouldn't call them sins because they can be categorised as illness and Fev did it hard after he was found drunk in the early hours of New Years Day. He had some help from friends and is working his way back with their help and a fair amount of effort on his part. He slipped up a little when reported in the VFL semi final and in the reports of the end of year celebrations. He deserves to get a chance and I think he should get it at Tigerland where the captain is his good mate and can help him enormously.

I always thought he might end up at GWS where the coach wrote a book about second chance heroes. However, Sheedy has ruled out taking him which shows you that he's a hypocrite.

Fevola is about a seventh chance hero Jack. Its says something about Fev if even Sheedy is steering clear.

Personally I think Sheeds has totally lost the plot now, turned two faced as as WJ suggest a total hypocrite. id read nothing really into what that senile ol coot does now.

So do people still think we should get Fev?

I am curious as I have an inkling half of us think Clark is Jamar's understudy and the other half think he is our new KPF.

I do have to say that his wage might be exorbitant for a back-up ruck...

I would like to think that the signing of Clarke would slam shut and lock any tiny chink that there may have been in our doorway for Fev. What role could he possibly fill?

Surely his main role will be as a KPP forward, freeing Watts, Jurrah, Howe and later Cook to take lesser defenders and less focus.

We still have the very capable Martin, and the fast developing Gawn, plus very much longer term and longer shot Fitzy as ruck options to back TMR.

It must also spell the end of the road for Jake and for Juice.

Because he didnt make a stupid decision in regard Fevola. I think he wont even shrug at the all on the alleged.

Did you read much into what Sheedy did in the past? I would have thought healthy skepticism in regard Sheedy was always the best approach.

I think now we have Clark as a tall forward, Fev would be in the way of developing our young forwards.

(This year @ Casey IMO was good for all of them.)

Now we must turn our attention to bolstering our Mids and smalls.

Sheeds is still as sharp as a knife....he just knows how to play the game, now as an elder statesman..Don't ever underestimate that wily old fox.

Dislike him but don't underestimate.

I thought I read that MFC had said it was not interested in Fev.

Do you believe everything you read? Especially from business people? I spose Don King is a hero? And politicians?

I don't. Thats what competing brings Us all to. Taking the smallest and all advantages over integrity.

The thing that's now different is we've got Clark wrapped up.

How do you distinguish between business and football people why are football people any more trustworthy?

As we have got Clark sown up the remote prospect of Fevola is now on odds with people on Mars. But dont tell JCB.

For the record, I would have thought Harrington, Mahoney and Connolly would be football people. Didak and Shaw are football people and not business types. Do you trust them??

And if they were seeing the smallest advantage over integrity then they would take Fevola... Hmmm. MFC have shown no interest and have stated so.Sometimes you read between the lines and....

To me, there not different. They have to try to keep the competitive advantage, by trying to not let on when necessary, is what I was saying.

So I don't believe what footy people say at times like this.

Running footy clubs, or competing with other business people. It seems the same to me. You don't want your opponent to know what your about to do, prior to when your ready for them.

Edit: JCB didn't think we'd get Clark, and wanted us covered for tall forwards.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
