Geez, a few people here give some youngsters a hard time. Probably the same youngsters that were touted when they were drafted as 'future stars'.

I think we saw Tapscott could do at the start of the season, and if a 20 year old comes into an AFL team and his toughness is seen head and shoulders above everyone else's, thats saying something. Yes, he dropped off, but that was after injury, in a cruddy environment for the whole time in general, and a guy that age, of course its going to be hard to keep that work ethic and commitment up for a whole season.

and getting upset about Tapscott being 1-2 cm shorter than Chapman? Seriously, go find a ruler and see what that's actually worth.

Tapscott has huge upside he will never be an out & out star becuase he will just do the basics right and nothing outstanding. He is our Beau Waters and every good team has to have 1. Vital part of our jigsaw I'm all for getting Dangerfield as the outsider we need but don't want to lose Tappy n the process, Bater, Dunn & Davey I don't see in our best 22 2013 and beyond so if one of them has to go in the deal to get Dangermouse so be it! Although Adelaide wont be bitten twice after picking up Tambling n trade week 2010!

Yeah nothing much will happen from anyclub all talk but nobody will be prepared to take much risk with compromised draft!

I get the feeling that our first selection in this year's draft will get similar to what we got last year, there's not much about after about 7 or 8.

Don't know if this has been posted already however aside from GC we are the only other team in with a chance for O'meara.

Believe what you will. Gee I hope we snare this guy.

I hate all these comparisons - the 'new Chris Judd, blah blah'

Very annoying journalism.

There seems to be just about one every year now. But that's the thing with midfielders, they're a dime a dozen. I want O'Meara, because he has what none of our mids seem to have, class. O'meara oozes it, no one on our list does, not even 'you know who' did.

Do what you have to do to get the deal done, Melbourne. Lord knows we know that stars don't grow on trees. If considered opinions are right about O'Meara, and I believe they are, it's players like him that deliver flags. I contend that we don't have much to lose, but a hell of a lot to gain. After all, there's no success unless it's the ultimate success.

It's interesting that you choose a picture of Norm Smith to associate with your username yet you're unwilling to consider that there are still people in footy who are loyal and honourable. Understandably people are a little sensitive after the farcical Scully situation this year but I'm confident Neil Craig should be viewed entirely differently to the growing number of footy people who are driven purely by money and quick fixes. He's a gentleman and viewed with great respect by Adelaide supporters despite the sour end to his time there. Taking Dangerfield away from Adelaide would quickly change this view and his time at Adelaide would be viewed in a very different and a very negative light.

Can understand and appreciate your sentiments in regards to his tenure at the Crows GV, but in today's day and age footy is not the what it used to be back in the 50's.

Sorry if you got the wrong perception of my values based on my avatar. If I was to base an opinion on yours it would be interesting.

It's quite funny the amount of people talking about Tapscott as a Backman. Bailey put a square peg in a round hole IMO & now everyone thinks that's his position. It's the clubs responsibility to get this kid super fit so he can run through the midfield & play half fwd flank similar to Chapman.

Patrick Dangerfield. At least if we had him we'd have either he or Colin Sylvia play a good game each week. I know you have to give something to get something and that Tapscott's name has just been raised as a hypothetical, but I cannot believe that after watching the finals series, good posters could even suggest that trading one of our few hard-bodied, courageous youngsters with good disposal would be a good idea. I'm not sure what 'limitations' Tapscott has that cannot be worked on under a potentially decent new coach. Particularly if we are giving Morton the benefit of the doubt that he can bulk up, and Strauss the leeway that he might produce something close to what Tapscott has shown, after resuming from lengthy recovery.

I rate Tapscott highly, but I worry about his lack of height and mobility, specifically agility.

In my experience, running capacity can be increased, but agility rarely improves.

They're the limitations I refer to, personally.

As I said earlier the club said they were going to work on Luke's body shape and that whilst he was strong he had strength in some of the wrong areas and needed more core strength. I'm sure that they are doing this for a purpose and this may address any concerns you have.

Thanks for the reply. My personal bias is usually for tough, hardened competitors in big games (obviously there needs to be some skill and ability there too). Our team isn't particularly blessed with a whole heap of tough, solid players, and I think he's important to us going forward.

That said, again, you're right that it's all hypothetical and in all likelihood Dangerfield isn't going anywhere.

I favour tough hard competitors, but over them I favour explosive game-breakers.

Dangerfield is that.

I think our lack of tough hard competitors is more due to overall youth, but I see your point.

And, I suppose, in the GF how often did we see the game broken open by athleticism?

Not that often. Hard bodies win out.

I think Dangerfield can become both.

Tapscott I don't have as much faith in, in that regard.

Don't get me wrong - is built for finals.

But I think Dangers can simply be even better, therefore I'd do the trade.

And the weight of numbers vying for the same spots don't help Tappy's chances.

Really? That's all it takes? Why didn't we think of that before??!

Surely this could've helped Bate and Brock McLean?

Ah, the benefit of hindsight...

Come on, you really think Tapscott will become the explosive athlete Dangerfield is by doing a little core work..?

Hardly "common sense", more like fantasy.

Look at Dangerfield's stats and tell me where you get this mythical "explosive star" from? Where would you play him; he does't get a lot of the ball and he doesn't kick goals?

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
