Failpatrick. Where do we find these guys.

Agree with most of the above.

Thought Jones was great today - and Garland was amazing until that moment... he had to have a crack though.

Watts - Missing since July.

Taking a pot shot at a 20 year old 200cm first gamer - well done champ !

Unfortunately, Fitzpatrick's debut is one of the worst I have seem for many a year. And this is not a pot shot but an opinion - if that's alright by you and the other opinion-police?

A bit harsh on Fitzpatrick. Yes, he looked pretty bad and kicked into the mark twice, but it takes almost everyone a while to get used to the pace and competitiveness at the top level. He'll be much better for the experience and next time we see him play he'll show us much more of what he can do.

Agreed+. He showed enough under the circumstabces.

"Failpatrick. Where do we find these guys."

Nah thats a pot shot at a first gamer.

Then you havent been watching for many a year.

More often than not debutants dont fare all that well..You have obviously Jack Watts debut. You have obviously forgotten Frawley and Garlands first 20 games.

To say Fitpatrick had an ordinary debut - fair opinion - to make the comment made above - poor form.

That is what most uneducated supporters said about Frawley and Garland and Watts.

For your sake I hope nobody drags this little gem out in 2 seasons.

I didn't. I did about Morton though, I guess I must be educated? Happy to go out on a limb with this one.

I've made a note in my diary, are you sure you don't want to make it 4 seasons though? He is a tall after all...

I don't think one game is an appropriate time to judge anyone and certainly not taking any notice of individual performances these last 3 rounds as they mean absolutely zilch. Our season and that which we deserved to be judged on, was over after the West Coast game IMO.

However, the worry for me lays with our performance off the field.....again. This club is as soft as marshmallows. How Fitzpatrick and Bennell were left on the ground after half time (other than for a few minutes at a time in order to rest other players) is just mind boggling. So in many ways i blame the FD for what went down today. If they can't see where the gaping holes were today they must be either blind or very dumb.

But i certainly don't want to see yet another skinny inexperienced youngster in this team from here, Fitzpatrick or whoever, until they've truly earned their stripes in the magoos and actually have an AFL sized body a la Tappy. Regardless of today's performance, i'd be happy to never see him, Bennell or Morton in the MFC jumper again.....ever.

We need big bodied boys from here, with talent and some agro/mongrel! And that was my view before the last meaningful game against West Coast.

Thanks but no thanks to more guys 'like' Fitzpatrick.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
