Campbell just got ko'd in front of me looks bad he's not moving. Fair bump by someone who looks about 45 kilos. Just got him in an awkward spot

Rohan Bail kicked a couple and pulled up well. Lucas Cook had a fair game and kicked a goal. Cam Johnston was steady. I only saw the last half.

Robbie Campbell collides with a Coburg player and is in trouble on the boundary line.

Retrospective drafting is after the fact; posters on this board were screaming for Darling to be drafted before the fact.

Retrospective posting also ...

There were many on this board (not to add, at the draft itself) that didn't want to touch Darling with a barge pole.

Preferred Cook, still prefer Cook.

(BTW, and once again, is it not possible for you to not hijack every single thread with your repetitive - not to say tiresome - "our drafting sucks"?)

Warnock to centre half forward.....possible tanking by Casey lol

Bate goals from a free and 50 metre penalty.

Wag in the crowd accuses umpire of ruining the game. It was Casey's third free for the half.

:)

Alex Fevola?

Game over and a well deserved 15 point win to Coburg. Very disappointing from the Scorpions today buy they did lose a few players before the game and Campbell's injury was particularly costly.

Thanks KC - looking forward as always to your summation.

I got a little confused by some of the banter at the top of the thread - who of the MFC emergencies didn't play, or, who did play??

Doesn't sound like too many Demons played this week. I'd also like to know who of the Emergencies played.

I'm happy for Fev, if he's playing he may as well play well.

Sounds like Bater played well, but I think his papers are marked at AFL level for the dees.

Bennell and Jetta make any inroads to getting back in the side?

Tommy Mac again up there in the best. Unheralded, but his name just keeps bobbing up.

I was at the game today and yes, there were quite a fewer Casey players missing from the original selected side as in the OP. The four players sitting on the interchange in tomorrow's game came out as well as two of the three emergencies Max Gawn and Dan Nicholson. Liam Jurrah pulled out injured. And, as mentioned above, Robbie Campbell was out reasonably early with concussion. This may sound paradoxical but, though he was top possession winner, Matthew Bate was only good in patches. Similarly with Jamie Bennell. I thought Neville Jetta did really well. Tom McNamara is exposed for his lack of pace. At one stage he marked and a player with confidence in his natural abilities would have played on. He didn't.

The rest were pretty disappointing although Jack Fitzpatrick looks like a potential senior player. He's fast and moves well for a player of 200cm and it's a pity he had to be taken out of the forward line to fill in the role of ruckman with Gawn out and Campbell injured. There's serious goalkicking potential there once he fills out and gets some more distance with his kicking.

First time I'd seen Casey this season... Northern suburbs bloke, so Coburg was nice and close to venture down and have a look.

McNamara looked really good and I'd love to see him have another crack at senior level... he looked really good running through the middle and linking up. I know he probably won't get his chance and will be delisted, but he really looks good in the midfield. Shame he wasn't tried there sooner in his career.

Jetta and Lawrence both played well in my eyes... held on to the ball a little too long on occasions, however their speed, and disposal were very good I thought. Really strong tackling and defensive pressure. Liked what I saw with both of them.

First time I'd really seen Fitzpatrick, and I was quite impressed. He is very agile and quick for a big bloke, and rotated between ruck and forward. Awkward shot on goal, but is effective enough. Also looks to have grown too, stood next to Spencer at 3Q time and looked equal in height. I agree with the wraps that he has recieved from blokes like Connolly. Could be a bit of diamond in the rough for us.

First time I'd also seen McDonald too. Still a bit raw I reckon, but has some real good size to him. Looking forward to a senior debut from him in the coming weeks hopefully if his emergency listing is anything to go by.

Fevola... definitely trimmer than earlier in the year. Is a bit lazy, and does get the sulks occasionally... but, he still moves really quickly in the first 10-20m of a lead. I'll probably cop a barrage for saying this, but I'd love to see him in the red and blue from 2012. Seriously, we are crying out for a target like him in our forward line, and he will cost nothing. In a compromised draft (which is shallow too, by all reports) why not use a 3rd or 4th round pick on him? Sign him up on a conditions based contract like Cousins was at Richmond and if he stuffs up, he is out the door. I know he has done wrong, but he is a good bloke deep down, just with Demon's (pardon the pun) in his past. GET HIM PLEASE!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
