Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

And ....... KERSPLAAASSHHHHHHH!!!

Typical, senseless RR response. An attempt at being witty falling flat once again.

Sorry, has the Scully thread again descended into a 1 man war to have Scully branded a liar? Again?

I thought we were past this rubbish.

Silvagni couldn't confirm that an approach if it was any time other than last October, as it would mean negotiating outside of the period allowed to them, and therefore unspecified penalties.

He clumsily added a caveat that it was in October to avoid getting a call from Adrian Anderson.

And that is considered proof? My god...

Exactly, but apparently this view makes me a fat kid attempting a dive. Guess you cant make someone see sense, especiallly when there is none there to draw from in the first place.

I just watched the clip of Silvagni. and for the life of me can see no smoking gun there. For one, he wasn't quite matter of fact at all, but stuttered and stammered as he spat it out. Secondly, he mentioned that without a doubt an approach had been made, but then added the bit about last October as an afterthought. Far as I'm concerned, all that was confirmed through all of this was that an approach had been made, and to avoid criticism about making such an approach mid season, he added the bit about last October as a bit of a safeguard. As Grandson of a Gun alluded to, there is a fair bit here in the semantics. An "approach" to the letter of the law, would include even asking the manager if he woud be interested in a chat. On the other hand, I don't think it is at all outrageous to believe that by "approach" TS was referring to the offer of a contract. Some people want to see the bad side of Tom, and others want to see the good side. We may be naive, and you may be jumping at shadows. But I still see no smoking gun that proves Tom to be a liar, only a kid sticking to a set timeline.

Well said Kento.

And perhaps vice versa Rangey, it is you who is shutting your eyes and sticking your head in the sand, pinning your beliefs on every little possible inference that can be drawn rather than the actual words spoken by the man.

But then again you would never acknowledge that your opinion might actually be misguided!

The more noise I hear coming out of GWS officials the more it becomes evident that they don't actually have their man at all!

RR, I watched that program, the TAC Cup show, and I could not definitely rule in and say Silvagni had approached Scully or his management. He said they had a window last year in which they made their approaches. He did not name Tom Scully, nor his management specifically. And we already knew about their window of opportunity October last year to make their approaches.

So what slip up are you referring to ? That they'd approached some player's management this year ? That was the only sort of slip up I noticed. But you cannot categorically rule in that any slip up was attributed to regarding that of a meeting with Tom's management last year, or this year.

So I'm not sure why you're hanging your hat on Silvagni interview.

As Hutchy said, "it doesn't sound convincing" after Silvagni's dialogue where he appeared to be uncomfortable, but that was it.

Nothing has changed as far as I'm concerned. We wait.

I 100% believe scully is going to stay. but people like damian barrett, mark Stevens and Jon Ralph coming out and saying he is leaving does make me worry, it seems like everyone of them has a one source, which make me wonder maybe GWS is spreading these rumours.

It was noticebly back tracked on again tonight by Barrett. It's now gone from signed sealed and delivered to

'at this stage we believe that he is more likely than not'.

So how does Range Rover paint this now?

What about all those contracts and Heads Of Agreement that he'd apparently signed?

That doesn't matter though GoaG, the only stories that are real are the journos spreading rumours that he IS going. Didn't you know this??

The thing is though Dees, that unless they state it as FACT, and name a source, they always have a get out clause. "I never said he would go", "My source said he was going, I just reported it" etc etc. That is what has caused the season long meltdown that is The Tom Scully Saga ©

i think he's gone, but that aside, if he did stay how far in front of him at Melbourne is Jack Trengove; Jack will be the club favourite for many years to come, and he can play football as well?

I doubt that some will ever forgive Scully, for the drama and the embarrassment this has caused the club; to be held to ransom by a 20 year old kid has been a monumental public relations nightmare.

It looks to the rest of the football World that quality players just don't want to be here.

Look at how many of the other top notch players that have said no thanks to GWS and re signed with their club, we've been made to look weak especially when we've made public our counter offer. That was an own goal and when Schwab came out and said we could match the GWS offer but wouldn't, it was a double own goal.

So let's get this straight.

GWS (Silvagni) corroborates the journos' story that an approach was made last October to Scully yet some of you still won't even entertain the possibility that the player was less than forthright in his March press conference. Not only that but I get lambasted and

branded a sadomasochist among other things for having the gumption to even broach the topic on this forum.

I'm actually less interested in the Scully 'decision' now and more keen to understand why it is that seemingly intelligent posters are choosing to suspend their faculties of logic when it comes to this issue.

Is there a superhuman quality bestowed upon on those who don the red and blue guernsey that I should be made aware of? Or are ya'll just being pig headed out of plain old blind pride?

Please do enlighten me ...

Terrible article imo,

Last year for the Demons, he was ranked ninth for hard-ball gets and sixth for clearances. So he is very much an outside player, and outside midfield players need to kick goals.

You want him to get how many clearances in his first year? how many hard ball gets as a 19yo?

Really wouldnt call him an outside player, we is at the bottom of packs similar amounts to Jordie and Moloney, does it when its his turn, wont disagree that he has an outside game, has Walls watched this guy? reason he hand balls it so much? maybe because he cant use his lags as he is on them???

So Schwab being honest, open and transparent and saying that a responsible club should consider limits to which it should go when paying its footballers is a major crime?

I saw the interview too. Silvagni is a terrible media performer and presents poorly in this interview. Had he been an MFC official then there are some posters here and a goodly few in the media who would have said he's nervous and evasive, he's hiding something, lying, the interview is a clear indication that Scully's gone and the MFC official stuffed up, the players hate him and that he is about to be sacked.

I don't think that any CEO of any football club should publicly discuss the terms of an individual players contract, you obviously don't agree with that. That's fair enough, but I never said it was a major crime, just an own goal, which is purely a mistake.

walls is a complete [censored].. seriously.. this guy has no idea what so ever

sure he makes a valid point or two later on in that article, but that line obliterates any potential credit. Also the line "His left-foot kicking throws opponents off, and it is sharp and precise off the boot." isnt that toms weak point at the moment and one that he is working on, with his handballs being "shar and precise".

i suppose judd is a pure outside player as well?

how does this bloke have a job?

"The downside for Scully is that he is so small. At 182 centimetres and weighing in at 77 kilograms, he is dwarfed by the dominant midfielders of the competition. Scott Pendlebury is nine centimetres taller and Dane Swan 15 kilograms heavier. There is no doubt he will add more muscle, but he will never be the size that will allow him to dominate in heavy traffic."

So when he does put on the bulk he is a whole 3 cm shorter than swan?

pointless artivle from a pointless "expert"

To say that the club has the capacity to match offers from another club is different to publicly discussing an individual player's contract.

It is important for all AFL clubs with the exception of the GWS (to which different rules apply) to make it clear that it is irresponsible for them to be drawn into inflationary spirals to retain one player. Geelong did exactly that last year when it refused to match the GCS offers for a Brownlow Medallist and champion premiership player in Ablett. It managed to retain most of the rest of its list and continues to thrive this year. Nobody from Sleepy Hollow bagged their CEO or their administration for taking a stand on this. The Bulldogs are taking the same stand on Ward. It's only when you have people sniping at individuals inside the club that every issue becomes sinister and evidence of their alleged wrongdoing. I like Scully as a player but if the AFL creates an inflationary monster that can tear away at a club's fabric and he or his management are prepared to take advantage of this then I back my club because at the end of the day, it's a team sport and we can only progress with team players who produce value for money.

I believe this is what Schwab was saying and it's the essence of what the club's about. That doesn't preclude us from negotiating a deal with Scully but what it does say is that such a deal is not all about dollars and cents but that there are other factors the player needs to weigh up in arriving at an agreement with a club.

If he goes he's no good, but if he stays he's the next Judd, I'm sick of this sh*t.

When he goes and yes I said when, we will be duly compensated, we will be loseing a bloke that has played all of a handful of games and we will get two guys that will be at the same leavel in less than two years. Go or stay this will not make or break our club.

Move on and let the poor bloke be.

Yes Steve Quite right!!

This has been completely distracting for the club

How refreshing to see Jack, Maxy and Tapscott put their hands up and tell us all they want to play in red and blue so impressive!

I did a quick straw poll in the Blaser bar on Saturday. You know what? A lot of people now dont really care if he goes or stays. The whole process has been poorly managed. Good luck Tom if you go. The club will go on and achieve with or with out you. BTW I personally would be happy for him to go as he has shown no committment to the club

"For such a good kick..."

One thing I have observed about TS's football is that he is not a good kick, and doees not have a 'raking left foot'. In fact his obsession with football seems to be about fitness and giving out handballs in traffic, which he is good at.

A million posts quoting informatation and disinformation.

I have little to no provable fact either way so in absense of irrefutable facts I will take a Melbourne player at his word.

The end result will be that he stays and I will be happy or he goes and I will be unhappy.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
