Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Does anyony know or I suppose, care, where or how Brock McLean is going. He has obviously not been playing seniors footy.

Playing for Bullants. Obviously not part of Blues' future plans. Will most likely be paid out and delisted at year's end. Your right, I don't care.

While we did well out of getting Gys for him (no question) his leadership (which apparently was pretty good) would have proven handy this year given the age of our group. Difficulty is our midfield with him, moloney and jones was pretty one dimensional.

Ever since he left things have not gone well for him. Reckon he was a decent bloke (as evidenced by his donation to the club in tough times), but probably got enticed by:

1) probable finals action

2) better football facilities

3) recognising that we would play youth and not him if push came to shove and we were not in contention for finals

4) recognising that our progress would take a while and his body couldnt probably survive that extra journey

Clearly has not worked out for him.

Wonder if he could get to another club in trade week?

I liked him and was disappointed when he left.

Must be a chance at GWS

They need types like him while their young list develops.

He will be back in the seniors on Saturday week so we can play him back into form!

I tell ya what, if he was delisted and available to us is the PSD I wouldn't say no to getting him back. That said, there probably isn't a place for him in our team with the likes of Gys, Jordie, Skulls (fingers crossed!), Moloney, and Jones. Hell I could throw Tapscott into that list as well.

GWS could be a pretty good fit for him.

Would be a good fit at GWS. They'd hardly ask (for the sake of this I won't mention a certain Demon) Callan Ward, for example, to be captain. He could be there for two to three years, helping the young guns come through. Like Campbell Brown last year.

What a huge fall from grace. i loved Brock and thought he would be captian of Melbourne, was very suprised when he decided to leave Melbourne, not sure of the exact happenings as I was overseas at the time. I really hope he gets back playing some good footy. Seen him at the bullants and he dominates every week, although the VFL suits him, he wouldn't dominate as much in the WAFL for example.

Why would you bother getting McLean back?

McLean's leadership is neither here nor there. The longer he played at MFC the more apparent it was he was not a leader. And he is not leadership material at CFC.

The problem with McLean is that is dead slow but can chug all days, accumulates possessions but does not hurt you by hand or foot. The speed of game has counted him out of favour. Why would anyone trade for him?? Also I am not sure an AFL/VFL tweener offers GWS. Surely they can get better options.

MFC did a sharp and correct deal on McLean. Happy when he left as the writing was on the wall for him in his last 2 seasons with MFC.

slowest mid 20 yr old ever, gets 30 fruitless possesions a game(when he plays that is!), mostly backwards or ineffective, will not be picked up if de-listted.

thanks for the early years, thanks for the donation to the club, but most of all thanks for the trade, Jordie Gysberts!!!! Happy Days. you panicked and ran, seeee ya!!!!!

I'm not exactly dribbling over the idea of us trying to get him back, and if you looked at my post you would see I recognised there probably isn't a place for him. But if he WANTED to come back, and we weren't going to use the PSD on anything else all i said was i wouldn't say no. Who knows, he could be our Trent Croad. (Probably though with his lack of pace)

If he got his body right i think he could cement his place at another club, but he will never go anywhere at Carlton.

100% correct - we didnt trade him to play youth we traded him for the exact reason outlined above

I think he wanted to leave too because he realised his time was limited and that Carlton are much closer to winning a premiership than MFC are. Unfortunately for him, Carlton do continue to improve and will likely be top 4 this year, but he is not part of their plans.

He is in the centre for what must be his last chance.

Brock who? Never liked his "blistering pace" and IF we were to get him back, I'll refuse to renew my membership.

Wow. That will fix the Club. Woohoo that's showing them. One poor decision does not balance out another poor decision. You just have two poor decisions.

Brock USED to be a Melbourne player and when his AFL days are over he ought to be welcomed back to the fold, but hes not someone to add anything to his list Im afraid.

Y'know, what I like about that trade is that it worked out as a general win-win for everyone, except the Calrton Football Club.

I still hope McLean gets an uninjured run and plays another few seasons of solid football.

Definitely no hard feelings.

It was a fair effort after a long stint out but he remains a fringe player at Carlton. He's a smart footballer with physical limitations in today's modern game. At least he has a chance to play finals football again and there's no benefit or reason for Demon fans to be mean spirited about him now. He's just another player at an opposition club.

It's a complicated issue, basically due to his selfishness he decided to leave the club, however his decision will end up benefiting the team in the future. He'll never be 'just another player' because of his defection, supporters will always treat him accordingly. But as I said he actually did us a favour, his body just isn't up to modern footy.

There is a lot of mean spirit around here some days.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
