And Howe !!

Too much time on my hands - watched the replay again against the Toiges and looked carefully at Jeremy Howe. He had a quieter game than the week before.

Its has already been mentioned his harrassment work and second efforts in the first quarter on the wing to cause a turnover and then work hard back to goal to kick the goal.

He didnt mark too many on Saturday but hit enough contests with body positioning to make sure he was the only one with a chance to mark. It was either him or nobody.

Then his refusal to give up in the last quarter and break through a shepherd ( albeit a weak one) and cause McGuane to turn the ball over resulting in a Sylvia goal was again persistance.

It shows you dont have to be getting 20 possies plus or 12 marks to influence a game.

I just love what this kid brings to the table. I am not one for going early ( read my dozens of early comments on Jack Watts - " ill wait until he is 23 before judging him") but my bones tell me that he is going to be pivotal to our forward line structure going forward.

Yes, this guy certainly adds something to our forward line mix. With Watts & Jamar/Martin as the talls, along with Green, Jurrah & Petterd, it's really starting to look potent. Add a fit Davey as the crumber, and we have a very versatile setup.

Then, waiting in the wings we have Cook, Jetta & Maric...

Lots to be excited about!

He's a marking machine. When he gets the dukes out in front he could very easily become our best, next to Wattsy.

And of course an excellent sense of where the big sticks are.

Future star of the comp. Bookmark it.

Work rate, footy smarts and a decent amount of talent make him a great long-term prospect. Adds some important ingredients to our current forward set-up, and this can only go in one direction as he gets games under his belt, and spends more time working alongside his team-mates. Great stuff ...... I had expected him to be a one-trick pony (I should have known better!).

He is so multi dimensional - strength, leap, goal sense, second efforts, team work....a great pick up.

Well done recruiters.

And gee while we are at it whatever happened to John Butcher, Aaron Black and Daniel Talia - the talls that we were supposed to take according to many here?????

They have really set the AFL on fire. I love it when some goose comes out and says we should have taken Jack Darling or whoever and yet 3 years later they have never played a game or disappeared from the radar screen.

The footy recruiters at the Dees have done a very good job for what is a very imprecise art.

Ive already heard "Lord Howe!" and "Thurstan!" (Howell iii).

Ive a mate who when fired up hums classical/opera when Strauss gets it.

One can understand why we MCC-MFC members give other supporters the Tom-[censored]:-)

Howe many puns can we make on this guy's name in the next few years?

When he kicks a long bomb we have fired the Howe-itzer.

Seems like an age ago when the forums were all about "Scully and Butcher" doesn't it? As I understand it the guy's hardly been on the park since he was drafted due to chronic injuries. Jeez that could've gone badly for us.

Thats what really peeves me about retrospectives - who we could have taken at a pick instead of who we did pick.

I am not saying any of three you mentioned wont make it but you make the most valid of points - we always hear gee we picked such and such and we could have taken this champion taken five picks later - what you dont hear is the spuds we could have also taken who are infinitely worse than who we did pick up.

He says jump you say Howe high.

Loving his work, great lead up made more effective by how(e) quickly he moves it on. Pure footballer with the athletic gift. Forward line is coming along nicely.

I'd probably have him in my best 22 already.

Certainly well inside mine - see 'ology thread.

A ready made player - he will of course now start to be noticed and matched up on by oppositions, though do you play a tall or a smaller quick on him? I would probably use a Garland type.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
