Scully's very quick, gets his hands on the ball, often reminds me of a rich man's Stanton, but I think he can improve. I'm not concerned in that regard.

I attended the GWS 'Captain's Club' function at the Swans v Pies game last night. Spoke to Sheedy, Dipper and the GWS CEO.

Essentially, it seems they think they have Scully. He has not 'signed' anything, but he 'committed' to GWS last October.

Reading between the lines, it is probable that, whilst he said he's 'committed' to the GWS, he's probably now having second thoughts. Nonetheless, GWS appears confident.

I felt like throwing haymakers at everyone wearing orange and grey hats last night, Bloody p1ssed off - this is unfair. Should have taken Trengove at 1, Martin at 2.

So did they say this to every one or did you go up to them and ask?

So he hasn't signed anything for GWS.....Good, if the MFC keeps winning we still have an excellent chance of keeping the Scull.

I just re read the article in yesterday's HUN.

I am sure Tom is still seriously hoping he can stay at the MFC.....But we must realize GWS are at present a "Wall of Cash" and they do wish to spend.

The MFC needs to keep a team together-Tom must fit in to that team.

I still reckon number 31 in 2012 will be Tom Scully.

For that to be true that would mean that Scully not only got up in front of the press and flat out lied to the cameras in March this year without breaking a sweat but also lied straight to Stynes, Bailey and Schwab's faces. Unless he has ice running through his veins I just can't see this being true. I also wouldn't believe a word coming out of Sheedy's mouth especially if he knew you were a Melbourne supporter.

I'll continue to stick by Scully, take him at his word and cheer him on until the there is an official announcement that he has left. We as supporters owe him as much and should not be bullied by the gossiping media into questioning the integrity of a young man who has given us no reason to.

Technically not, if he received a fax for instance, then he never spoke to them, same with his management. And if he has not actually signed anything even if he agreed via fax then he has not lied at all.

True, but I'm 31 and don't reckon I could pull off that swifty, so I dunno how a 19 year old kid would go pullin the wool over their eyes.

It would still be lying he would have gone out and said he hadn't spoken with or signed anything with GWS. Technicality or not if he had corresponded via fax the meaning is the same and he would have to coolly lie his way through a packed press conference as well as directly to Stynes' face. Not to mention the fact that he said if he was approached by GWS the MFC would be the first to know about it.

It may turn out that he is no more than a cold blooded mercenary; but I believe in giving people the opportunity to prove themselves especially when that person is a 19 year old kid who seems to have as much integrity and class as anyone running around in the AFL today.

Very disappointed with the number of posters, some who are very much regulars who still insist that TS is being selfish and grabbing at money, bending the club over, maybe he hasnt made a decision, maybe he is being true to his word, maybe he wants what is best for his footballing future,

Give the kid a break for a minute take a cold shower and look in the mirror before you start to take pot shots at his integrity again, im sorry but i think that he is entitled to take time, its a big decision and people are making uninformed comments about a great MFC player who gives his all every week

How will you feel if he signs a deal for MFC for what he is worth in 2 months.... oh i loved him new he would do the right thing etc etc

just saying

Exactly it is also the height of hypocrisy when people have a dig at Scully for not re-signing now yet want to either sack Bailey or refuse to re-sign him until after the season. Like it or not this is how football operates these days. Are these same people giving Sylvia a hard time because he hasn't signed yet and is either trying to bend MFC over a barrel and extort money from us or leaving his options to go to GWS or another club open?

This specualtion all started from BS rumours from snakes like McGuire, Sheahan, Hutchy, Ralph etc all likely being fed BS from Gubby Allen. The kid himself has stated he, his family or manager have not signed or spoken to GWS and that if he was approached the club would be the first to know. Yet some on here refuse to take this kid at his word. Show some balls and back the kid and the club in. Are we going to have to go through this every year from now on once free agency comes in?

Yeah but your not a player agent either, and that's who would have actually pulled that off.

I was talking about looking Jimmy, Cam , Bails and the Media in the eyes and saying that their had been no approach to him, his management or anyone involved with him.

Are you sugesting that in October last year Scully's manager and GWS negotiated and agreed on a multi million doller contract purely by fax so Scully could say to the media 6 months later than he and his management have not spoken to them at all?

That's what it sounds like you're saying. Look, I don't want to belittle you but that's almost the most ridiculous thing I've seen on a footy forum. C'mon now (in a really bad Father Ted accent), it's just not going to happen.

Scully said that they (ie, him, his family or his management) has not received an offer yet, I reckon that covers the fax as well....

People can believe all the rumours they want, but I'm sticking fat to the kid.

Who is GWS's CEO? What's his name? What a load of BS!!

I usually keep my cool with all posters and love talking footy, but I will NEVER click on a TS thread until the final outcome is known.

No I do not believe that happened, I was just making a point that technically something could be agreed without ever personally speaking to GWS.

I was expecting people to realise that I was just throwing something stupid out there, just pointing out there are dodgy ways of doing things and I'm sure agents would have a few up their sleeves.

But as I have said before I do not think he has signed anything nor agreed to anything.

Seriously, technically anything is possible but highly improbable. TS deciding to go to GWS would be one of his biggest decisions of his life because it would have major implications on his life, both in and out of football. They will NOT negotiate something that important via a fax. This would be accusing TS's management of gross incompetance and flippancy to the highest degree, I know Lynch and co are much more professional than that.

Yeah, get your hand off it Ronny, like they're going to say that to a total stranger!!!

This is a Tom Scully thread. I'm simply reporting what I heard last night. Neither Sheedy nor the CEO told me this. One of the foundation members did. I told him I thought it was all crap - he then responded by saying, "matter for you. We reckon it's pretty well a done deal". Everyone else seemed to think it's a done deal too. Needless to say, it didn't exactly make for a good night.

So Jack7, it's possible you're a modern day Socrates, but my instinct tells me you're probably not. Cop a tip, hand on it or not - don't be surprised with posters putting 'Tom Scully' related reports on a 'Tom Scully' thread. That's kind of what this forum is for ... but heh, perhaps I'm assuming a basic level of intelligence from everyone in the Demonland community, arguably an assumption that I may now need to revisit.

FYI - I don't know whether Scully's signed with GWS or not. I sincerely hope he hasn't.

I absolutely don't doubt that you are reporting what you heard, but I absolutely 110% know that Scully has not sealed any sort of deal with GWS.

The rest of the [censored] you were told, is therefore irrelevant.

P.S.- good to see GWS have at least one member. It'll be lonely for them on the bottom

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
