Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Leave it at 2.10pm. and that goes for all other wanky times like 1.10 and 4.40pm.

Disagree.

I like the 7:10 Saturday game.

I'm also looking forward to Saturday twilight - perfect time to head into the night. The 3:50ish finish on Sunday is pretty handy and whilst I don't particularly enjoy the twilight game on the Sunday, at least it gives you pretty much your whole Sunday. I enjoy watching the double header on Sunday too - the triple header Saturday will rock.

Can't stand twilight.

It always seems to just mess up my day.

2:10 makes just fits easily into the day...you have a slow morning (or for some I'm sure it's working or taking the kids to sport), and then you're ready to head to the 'G. (don't mind 1:10, but its a little less convenient).

Night games mean you have an entire day prior, no real restrictions.

Twilight messes up both the day, and the night...I particularly seem to get really tired at and by sunday 4.40 games...It's weird and just unnatural.

What? Is there an issue with getting a general consesus on an issue seeing that's what this threads about?

I'm asking you why one would consider a twilight QB game. To what end? For what reason? In a word - why?

I can think of a bunch of reasons why a twilight game isn't a good idea, but I can't think of a good reason why.

Once upon a time there was a ground at a faraway land called Waverley, and people would go on a weeknight because it wasn't too far away. Then the big bad evil ogre stopped people going to the land of Waverley, and said that everyone had to travel into the crowded metropolis, and find a place to park their carriage, or else use the public cattle transports. People no longer went to weeknight games, because it all got too hard.

Seriously, not everyone lives in the city, or within cooee of the city, and it is a bit of an effort to get all the way into the G or to windy city, and to get home again. If it is a Friday or Saturday night game, most of us don't have to get up too early the next day, so we do it. Obviously Saturday afternoon is still the best, but Sunday afternoon is manageable too. Twilight games on a Sunday are a pain in the butt, because you have to get up early the next day. Who wants to make the trip into the 'city' on a working night? Fight traffic going in, or take the train and face a really long trip home (and therefore a really late night) after the footy is over. As much as I would like to go, I couldn't do it. Lots of others couldn't either. We always get a good turnout to this game anyway, and I think this year there will be lots of Pie supporters prepared to give us their money, so I think it will be a really good crowd.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Yeah that's the thing for a supposed blockbuster game that we have had for 10 years now we only average 64k.

Performance has a lot to do with it sure. But for your one guaranteed marquee game that's pretty close to failure.

Last time MFC had a H/A attendance above 80k Collingwood 08-May-1971 80231. That's 40 years this year.

There are plenty of reason that have caused this and of course a small supporter base is the biggest factor.

I think the argument just cause it's always been is should always be is redundant if it doesn't reflect success.

Economics of football attendance is as important as the emotionality connected to traditionalism.

Last year we ranked 15th in highest H/A MCG attendance.

2009 before 17th

2008 15th

You have to go back to 2007 before we ranked in top 10 at 5.

Richmond has attracted on average 70K opening round and that's not a public holiday. Yes they have more supporters

but they have had a similar sought of trough in performance. It's a night game.

The point to the stats:

Our membership has gone up, Attendance across the AFL has gone up, our average attendance to games has gone up

Our pulling power or 'ranking' attendance to Queen's Birthday has nose dived.

How is it fixed? How does the club maximise revenue?

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
